Brad Newsham (born September 15, 1951) is a travel writer from San Francisco, US. His books include ''Take Me With You'' in which he travels across the Philippines, India, Egypt and Kenya with the intention of taking one person whom he meets on his travels back to America with him, and ''All The Right Places''. Richard Newsham
Richard Newsham (died 1743) was an English inventor. He took out two patents for fire engines in 1721 and 1725 (Royal Patent Office 1721 patent #439 and 1725 patent #479) and soon dominated the fire engine market in England. The engine had two single-acting pistons and an air vessel placed in a tank which formed the frame of the machine. The pump was worked by people at the long cross handles. At the front of the engine, protected by a sheet of horn and a door, were directions for keeping the machine in order. The cistern could hold about of water pumping up to a minute. New York City imported its first two fire engines from Newsham in 1731. In 1737 Newsham made a manual fire pump for the Parish of Bray in Berkshire. When Richard Newsham died in 1743 the company was willed to his son Lawrence Newsham. Peter Newsham
Peter Newsham (born ) was the Chief of Police of the Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia (MPD) from January 2017 to January 2021. He is currently Chief of the Prince William County Police Department in Virginia, having been appointed to that post in November, 2020. A veteran of the police department of Washington, D.C., since 1989, he participated in various capacities in numerous high-profile investigations and arrests, including the disappearance of Chandra Levy, the Washington Navy Yard shooting, and the murder of Seth Rich. He became the Chief of Police in January 2017, after having previously served as deputy to his predecessor, Police Chief Cathy Lanier. Marc Anthony Newsham (born 24 March 1987) is an English footballer who plays as a striker for Sheffield. He notably played in the Football League for Rotherham United, but has since played in Non-League football for Gainsborough Trinity, Ilkeston Town, Boston United and Matlock Town. Career Newsham is a product of the Rotherham United youth team and made his first team debut in March 2005. The West Sole gas field is a natural gas and associated condensate field located under the North Sea 44 miles (70 km) off the East Yorkshire coast. The field produced Britain’s first offshore natural gas in 1967. The field The West Sole gas field is a substantial natural gas field located in the UK North Sea. The field is named after the Sole Pit area of the southern North Sea beneath which the field is situated. The gas reservoir is a Rotliegendes sandstone of Lower Permian age located at a depth of 9,000 feet (2,740 m) with a thickness of 262–430 feet (80–131 m). The reservoir is capped by Zechstein salt. The West Sole structure runs north-west to south-east and is about 12 miles long and 3 miles wide (19 km by 4.8 km). It was discovered in 1965 and extends over Block 48/6 only. Aislaby ( ) is a small village and civil parish on the north bank of the River Tees within the borough of Stockton-on-Tees and the ceremonial county of County Durham, England. It is located to the west of Eaglescliffe and Yarm. The name, first attested as ''Asulue(s)bi'' in 1086, is of Viking origin and means "Aslak's farm." Aislaby was listed in the Domesday Book of 1086. Geography Administration Aislaby is historically and ceremonially located in County Durham, but for administrative purposes is located in the Borough of Stockton-on-Tees, made a unitary authority in 1996. Newsham is a village and civil parish in the Richmondshire district of North Yorkshire, England. The village is north west of Richmond and south west of Darlington. History The settlement of Newsham predates the Domesday Book, although the name of the village derives from the Old English ''nēowan hūsum'', which means ''New Houses''. At the time of the Norman Conquest, Newsham belonged to ''Sprot'' and ''Ulfkil''. After the Domesday Book assessment, the land was in the hands of Count Alan and later passed to Minotts (of Carlton Miniott) in 1285 and then being seized by the Markenfield family by 1497. During the Stuart and Tudor periods, the village was regarded as quite important due to its market, of which the grade II listed market cross still exists, having been erected in the 16th century. Newsham With Breckenbrough
Newsham with Breckenbrough is a civil parish in the Hambleton district of North Yorkshire, England and lies on the A167. The population of the parish at the 2011 census was 128. The parish has two Grade II* listed buildings – the West Lodge to Thornton Stud and its gateway. Anne of Denmark with Prince Henry and Princess Elizabeth stayed at Breckenbrough Castle on 10 June 1603 as guests of Thomas Lascelles while on their way to London. The castle has been demolished and only earthworks remain. In 1618 there were two brick towers with a hall between, with two wings from the towers forming a courtyard.
