Newman (Seinfeld)
Newman is a recurring character and the main antagonist of the television show ''Seinfeld'', portrayed by Wayne Knight from 1992 until the show's finale in 1998. He is Jerry's arch-nemesis and Kramer's friend. ''TV Guide'' included him in their 2013 list of The 60 Nastiest Villains of All Time. In 2016, ''Rolling Stone'' ranked him #16 of their "40 Greatest TV Villains of All Time". USS ''Newman'' (DE-205/APD-59) was a in service with the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946. She was scrapped in 1966. History ''Newman'' was named in honor of Laxton Gail Newman (1916–1941), who was killed in action during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941. He was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart for his actions. The ship was laid down by the Charleston Navy Yard on 8 June 1943; launched on 9 August 1943; sponsored by Mrs. J. B. Newman, mother of L. G. Newman AD3; and commissioned on 26 November 1943. Following shakedown off Bermuda, ''Newman'' was assigned transatlantic escort duty. Between 11 February and 29 June 1944, she crossed the ocean six times. On 30 June, at Tompkinsville, Staten Island Naval Base, she commenced conversion to a ''Charles Lawrence''-class high speed transport, reporting for shakedown in Chesapeake Bay as APD-59 on 19 September. Newmans Coach Lines was an Australian coach charter company with operations in Sydney and Cairns. History In 1987, the Sydney coach operations of Chester Coaches were purchased by New Zealand-based Newmans Coach Lines. Newmans also purchased the Cairns business of Carah Coaches. In late 1989, Newmans commenced operating services from Sydney to Melbourne and Brisbane under the ''Scenic Intercapital'' brand. Rather than operating as express services like other coach operators, the services operated with overnight stops in Albury and Coffs Harbour. These ceased in 1990. Newman's Own is an American food company headquartered in Connecticut. Founded in 1982 by actor Paul Newman and author A. E. Hotchner, the company donates all of its after-tax profits to charity through the Newman's Own Foundation, a private nonprofit foundation which in turn supports various educational and charitable organizations. History The brand started in 1982 with a homemade salad dressing that Paul Newman and A. E. Hotchner prepared themselves and gave to friends as gifts. Newman's
Newman's was an American department store chain based out of Joplin, Missouri. Newman Mercantile Company was started by Jewish entrepreneur Joseph Newman, a German immigrant, in the mid 19th century. Joseph Newman's son Albert and son in law Gabe Newburger opened the first Newman's dry goods store in Joplin in 1898. In 1910 Newman's relocated their Joplin store to the newly built Newman Brothers Building located at the corner of 6th & Main in downtown Joplin. Newman's department store operated out of that building until 1972, when they relocated to the newly completed Northpark Mall. Newman's co-developed the mall with Enterprise Development. Newman's filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy in 1987 closing some of their locations, and closing the last of their stores in 1988. Newman Club (rugby)
Club Newman is an Argentine sports club located in the city of Benavídez of Tigre Partido, Greater Buenos Aires. The club is mostly known for its rugby union team, which currently plays in the Top 12, the first division of the Unión de Rugby de Buenos Aires league system. Newman's facilities also host other sports such as field hockey, football, golf, show jumping and tennis. History The club was founded on December 15, 1975, by alumni of Cardinal Newman College. The first facilities were located in Benavidez, a district in Tigre Partido. The college had been established by the order of the Christian Brothers. In 2004, the rugby team of the club reached the Torneo de la URBA semi-finals (where they lost to Alumni), one of its most important achievements, since they have never won any championships. Michael Tucker (born August 15, 1990), known professionally as BloodPop (stylized as BloodPop®), is an American musician, record producer, and songwriter. He has previously used the monikers Blood Diamonds, Blood, and Michael Diamond. He is known for writing and producing songs for Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Justin Bieber, Madonna, and John Legend.
