Newfoundland is a railroad station in the Newfoundland section of Jefferson Township, New Jersey. It was built by the New Jersey Midland Railway in 1872 and later served passengers on the New York, Susquehanna and Western Railroad (NYS&W). The critically acclaimed and award-winning 2003 independent film '' The Station Agent'' starring Peter Dinklage was set and filmed largely in Newfoundland (during August 2002) and features the iconic train station featured in the film is located in the Jefferson Township section of Newfoundland. The station interior has been renovated and is marketed as a multiple-use studio. Newfoundland, New Jersey
Newfoundland () is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP), geographically spanning both West Milford Township in Passaic County, and Jefferson Township in Morris County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. It is located along Route 23 and is the mailing address of Green Pond, a private lake in Rockaway Township. As of the 2020 United States census, the CDP's population was 1,145. Newfoundland was a popular resort destination at the turn of the 20th century. Several resort hotels including Brown's Hotel and Idylease Inn relied on the railroad to bring guests for the resort season. The New Jersey Midland Railway developed the Newfoundland station in 1872. New York, Susquehanna and Western Railway provided passenger service until the 20th century and still travels through the area carrying freight. Butler (NYS&W Station)
Butler is a former commuter railroad train station in the borough of Butler, Morris County, New Jersey. Serving passenger and freight trains of the New York, Susquehanna and Western Railway, Butler served as the western terminus of service beginning in 1941, when passenger service was cut from Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. Trains from Butler operated to Pavonia Terminal in Jersey City until December 12, 1958 and then Susquehanna Transfer in North Bergen until the discontinuation of service on June 30, 1966. Butler station consisted of a single low-level side platform with the wooden frame station. The next station east was Bloomingdale. Railroad service through Butler began on May 1, 1872 with the opening of the New Jersey Midland Railroad from Pompton Township to Middletown, New York. West Milford, New Jersey
West Milford is a township in Passaic County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the township's population was 25,850, reflecting a decline of 560 (−2.1%) from the 26,410 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 980 (+3.9%) from the 25,430 counted in the 1990 Census. It is the largest in the county by total area, covering and more than 40% of the county. History West Milford started out as New Milford in what was then western Bergen County in the 18th century, having been settled by disenchanted Dutch from Milford, New Jersey (later renamed by the British as Newark). These same Dutch also built a town of New Milford in eastern Bergen County.
