Route 62, also known as Liam Hickey Drive, is an access road which connects the Trans-Canada Highway at an interchange with the town of Holyrood, Newfoundland and Labrador, Holyrood. It runs for about and is one of two provincial routes designated as an access to Holyrood (the other being Newfoundland and Labrador Route 90, Route 90). Before 2018, it was called Holyrood Access Road. Route description Route 62 begins at an interchange with Newfoundland and Labrador Route 1, Route 1 (Trans Canada Highway, Exit 36) near Butter Pot Provincial Park. It heads north through rural wooded areas to enter the town limits and pass by IBEW College. The highway continues north to pass by a golf course and a few other businesses before entering downtown, where Route 62 comes to an end at an intersection with Newfoundland and Labrador Route 60, Route 60 (Conception Bay Highway). Butter Pot Provincial Park
Butter Pot Provincial Park is a Provincial Park on the Avalon Peninsula of the island of Newfoundland, Canada. The park covers an area of approximately 28 km2 and is located on the Trans-Canada Highway about 35 km southwest of St. John's. The park is named for a prominent rounded hill (Butter Pot Hill, 303 m) inside the park boundary. Butter Pot incorporates both day-use and overnight camping facilities, and in winter months provides groomed cross-country ski trails. Butter Pot Provincial Park is the most-visited park in the Newfoundland provincial park system. In September 2012, the park closed early for the season, as a result of extensive damage to the park roads, trails and facilities caused by Hurricane Leslie. Holyrood, Newfoundland And Labrador
Holyrood is a town on the Avalon Peninsula in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. It is in Division 1, on Conception Bay. It is approximately a 30 minute drive from the capital city of St. John's. During King William's War, the village was destroyed in the Avalon Peninsula Campaign. The town is famous for being at the bottom of the bay and having a large cross on the top of the predominant mountain "George Cove."Holyrood is also renowned for its squid fishery and caplin "rolling" which happens in late spring, early summer. "Rolling" refers to the mating of the caplin when they beach themselves and can be picked up by hand. It also hosts the popular "Squid Fest," several days of squid themed activities culminating in an outdoor festival of drinking and traditional music. Route 90, also known as Salmonier Line and St. Mary's Bay Highway, is an north-south Highway on the Avalon Peninsula of Newfoundland. It connects the communities along the eastern side of St. Mary's Bay with the Trans Canada Highway and Holyrood. The entire length of Route 90 also forms the western half of Irish Loop Drive. Route description Route 90 begins in St. Vincent's-St. Stephen's-Peter's River at a bridge along the beach, which straddles a narrow isthmus between the ocean and a large lagoon (Holyrood Pond), with the road continuing east as Route 10.
