Route 220A, also known as Creston Boulevard, is a short north–south highway located entirely in the town of Marystown on the island of Newfoundland. It connects the Creston neighbourhood of town with the downtown area. Route 220A also represents the former alignment of Route 220 prior to its realignment onto the Creston Causeway. Route description Route 220A begins at an intersection/partial interchange in Creston with Route 220 (Creston Boulevard/Creston Causeway). It heads northeast through neighbourhoods for a few kilometres, where it has an intersection with Marine Drive (which provides access to Little Bay and Beau Bois), before crossing a bridge over a river into downtown. Marystown is a town in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, with a population of around 5,000. Situated 306 km from the province's capital, St. John's, it is on the Burin Peninsula. Until the early 1990s, its economy was largely based on shipbuilding, and it is due in part to this that the town experienced a population increase of 295% in just over a decade. The town was also dependent on the fish plant for employment. Though the shipyard still holds a presence in the town, residents have had to look elsewhere for economic subsistence in the last decade or so. The closure of the fish plants in Newfoundland has also had its hand in the decline in economic subsistence. Route 220 is the southern portion of the Heritage Run in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador, running along the southern and western coastlines of the Burin Peninsula of Newfoundland. It is a loop road, running due south from the town of Marystown and continues until the town of Grand Bank where it transitions into Route 210 - and vice versa. The speed limit along much of Route 220 is 80 km/h, except in communities where the speed limit is reduced to 50 km/h (however, through the town of Fortune, the speed limit is reduced to 30 km/h). Beau Bois, Newfoundland And Labrador
Beau Bois is a local service district and designated place in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador near Burin. It is from Placentia and from St. John's. The existence of Beau Bois can be documented at least as early as 1841 and probably existed for decades before. In 1844 widow Ann Farrell petitioned the Supreme Court of Newfoundland for redress of damages done to her by William Ryan and James Shock who went to her meadow at nearby Moorings Cove, Mortier Bay and stole her hay. She had been widowed in 1841 when her husband and sons drowned on a trip getting winter supplies from St. John's. Her cattle, hay, gardens and meadowland were her sole means of support. Route 210, also known as the Burin Peninsula Highway and Heritage Run, is a highway that extends through the Burin Peninsula from Goobies to Grand Bank, Newfoundland and Labrador. The maximum speed limit is 90 km/h except through communities and settlements where the speed limit is reduced to 50 km/h. Just after exiting Swift Current, until a few kilometres north of Marystown, much of the landscape is barren, with very few trees prevalent. After entering Marystown, motorists approach a junction where they could turn right to continue their journey on Route 210 until arriving at Grand Bank, or going straight onto Route 220 towards Burin and St. Lawrence.
