Newcomb Township is a township in Champaign County, Illinois, USA. As of the 2020 census, its population was 1,377 and it contained 526 housing units. Geography Newcomb is coterminous with Congressional township 21 North, Range 7 East of the Third Principal Meridian. According to the 2010 census, the township has a total area of , of which (or 99.59%) is land and (or 0.41%) is water. Illinois Route 47 crosses the township from north to south. U.S. Route 136 forms the northern boundary. The historically registered Hazen Bridge crosses the Sangamon River in the eastern part of this township. Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is natural gas (predominantly methane, CH4, with some mixture of ethane, C2H6) that has been cooled down to liquid form for ease and safety of non-pressurized storage or transport.
