New York State Route 54A
New York State Route 54A (NY 54A) is a state highway in the western part of New York in the United States. It runs in a northeast to southwest direction through part of the Finger Lakes district of New York. The southern terminus of NY 54A is at NY 54 south of Hammondsport. The northern terminus is in Penn Yan, where it rejoins NY 54. Unlike NY 54, which runs along the east side of Keuka Lake, NY 54A has a more circuitous route around the western side of the lake. Route description NY 54A begins at an intersection with NY 54 in the town of Urbana. NY 54A proceeds northward through Urbana as Main Street Extension, crossing Keuka Inlet into the village of Hammondsport. After the inlet, NY 54A changes names to Main Street, crosses over the Bath and Hammondsport Railroad alignment and enters downtown Hammondsport. In January 1930, the U.S. state of New York implemented a major renumbering of its state highways. Many previously existing numbered routes were renumbered or realigned. At the same time, many state highways that were previously unnumbered received designations. Most of the highways with numbers in the 100s to 300s were assigned at this time. Route numbers were assigned in clusters based on their general location. Because some of these route numbers are no longer in use, the pattern of clusters is not fully apparent today. Before 1930, the route numbering system in place had its origins in the 1920s. At the time, New York only assigned numbers to a small subset of its state highways. Bath is a village in Steuben County, New York, United States. The population was 5,786 at the 2010 census. Bath is the county seat of Steuben County. New York State Route 70 (NY 70) is a short state highway in the western portion of New York in the United States. It travels through three different counties in just and is the primary road to and from the village of Canaseraga. The western terminus of the route is at an intersection with NY 436 in the Livingston County town of Portage. Its eastern terminus is at a junction with NY 36 in the Steuben County town of Dansville. Although NY 70 is mostly signed north–south, it follows a more southeast–northwest alignment and is considered an east–west route by the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT). New York State Route 14A
New York State Route 14A (NY 14A) is a north–south state highway located in the Finger Lakes region of New York in the United States. It extends for from an interchange with NY 14 in the Schuyler County town of Reading to an intersection with U.S. Route 20 (US 20) and NY 5 west of the Ontario County city of Geneva. In between, the two-lane route serves Yates County and the village of Penn Yan, located at the northeastern tip of Keuka Lake. Outside of Penn Yan, NY 14A traverses rural, rolling terrain dominated by farmland. The route runs parallel to and west of NY 14 for its entire route between the Watkins Glen and Geneva areas.
