New York State Route 41A (NY 41A) is a north–south state highway in Central New York in the United States. It extends for from an intersection with NY 41 in the Cortland County town of Homer to a junction with U.S. Route 20 (US 20) in the Onondaga County village of Skaneateles. The southern half of NY 41A serves mostly rural areas, while the route's northern half runs along the western edge of Skaneateles Lake. NY 41A was assigned as part of the 1930 renumbering of state highways in New York to several previously unnumbered state roads and a section of pre-1930 NY 26. Homer is a town in Cortland County, New York, United States of America. The population was 6,405 at the 2010 census. The name is from the Greek poet Homer. The town of Homer contains a village called Homer. The town is situated on the west border of Cortland County, immediately north of the city of Cortland. History The region was part of the Central New York Military Tract, from which the cash-poor federal government granted land to soldiers of the American Revolution to pay them for their service. "Homer" was the name of one of the townships in the Military Tract, this name being assigned by a town clerk. The area was settled in 1791. The Town of Homer was established when Onondaga County was formed in 1794. Cortland County was subsequently formed from Onondaga County. New York State Route 359
New York State Route 359 (NY 359) is a state highway located entirely within the town of Skaneateles in Onondaga County, New York in the United States. At in length, it is one of the shortest signed state highways in all of New York. The route begins at NY 38A a half-mile (0.8 km) north of the Onondaga-Cayuga County county line and ends at NY 41A in the hamlet of Mandana. It lies between Skaneateles Lake and Owasco Lake. Excluding its termini, there are only two junctions with other roadways along the entire route. NY 359 was assigned in the early 1940s and was part of the original NY 26 from 1924 to 1930. Skaneateles (town), New York
Skaneateles ( , ) is a town in Onondaga County, New York, United States. The population was 7,112 at the 2020 census. The name is from the Iroquois term for the adjacent ''Skaneateles'' Lake, which means "long lake." The town is on the western border of the county and includes a village, also named Skaneateles. Both the town and village are southwest of Syracuse. History The area was part of the former Central New York Military Tract. The town of Skaneateles was formed in 1830 from the town of Marcellus. Early turnpikes facilitated development. The town was noted for participation in reform movements before the Civil War. Niles is a town in Cayuga County, New York, United States. The population was 1,194 at the 2010 census. Niles lies in the eastern part of the county, southeast of Auburn.
