New York Route 17K
New York State Route 17K (NY 17K) is an east–west state highway located within Orange County, New York, in the United States. It extends for from an intersection with NY 17 east of Bloomingburg to a junction with U.S. Route 9W (US 9W) midway across the city of Newburgh. The western terminus was where NY 17K originally connected to its parent route, NY 17; it now meets NY 17 a short distance to the east at an interchange with the Quickway. In Newburgh, NY 17K becomes Broadway and serves as the city's primary east–west street. The road can be divided into a half west of Montgomery, where it runs through relatively undeveloped land, and an eastern half where it closely parallels Interstate 84 (I-84) and serves much more populated areas. Union Street–Academy Hill Historic District
The Union Street–Academy Hill Historic District makes up most of downtown Montgomery, New York, United States. It abuts the smaller Bridge Street Historic District to the northwest. The district has been on the National Register of Historic Places since November 21, 1980. The district is roughly bounded by Hanover Street, one block west of Union Street (NY 211), Ward Street (NY 17K) on the north, Wallkill Avenue to the east and Sears Street to the south. The 300-acre (1.2 km2) rectangle-shaped historic district contains 83 buildings, many of them houses that date to the early and mid-19th century and exemplify popular contemporary architectural styles. New York State Route 211
New York State Route 211 (NY 211) is a state highway located entirely within Orange County, New York, in the United States. The western terminus is at the intersection with US 209 located in Cuddebackville, and the eastern terminus is located at Montgomery at NY 17K, where it becomes the main thoroughfare. Through Middletown, it briefly becomes a divided highway with a maximum of five lanes in each direction (a total of ten lanes). It was also through Middletown that the famed "Miracle Mile" was born, which was the beginning of the shopping center frenzy that saw many businesses move from downtown areas of Middletown to the Route 211 Shopping Corridor. Bridge Street Historic District (Montgomery, New York)
The Bridge Street historic district is the smaller of two that make up the downtown area of the village of Montgomery in Orange County, New York. It is located along Bridge Street, just off NY 17K as it enters the village by crossing the Wallkill River at Ward's Bridge, hence its name. Ward's Bridge carries NY 17K across the Wallkill River at the western end of the village of Montgomery in Orange County, New York, United States. Its course takes it mostly through areas cleared for agriculture, although not all are presently cultivated. Montgomery is a town in Orange County, New York, United States. The population was 23,322 at the 2020 census. It was named in honor of Richard Montgomery, a Revolutionary War general killed in 1775 at the Battle of Quebec. The northern town line is contiguous with the Ulster County border. Montgomery is immediately west of the town of Newburgh. Within its borders are three villages, one eponymous, as well as Walden and most of Maybrook. History The early town began as a patent to Henry Wileman in 1710, who was the first settler. He was the first of a group of Palatine Germans to emigrate and settle land around what is now the village of Montgomery. Winding Hills Park
Winding Hills Park is located off NY 17K in the Comfort Hills west of the village of Montgomery, New York, United States, straddling the Montgomery-Crawford town line.
