No, No, No (Yoko Ono Song)
"No, No, No" is a song by Yoko Ono from her 1981 album '' Season of Glass''. The song is one of the most dramatic tracks on the album to address her husband John Lennon's murder. The song begins with the sound of four gunshots (Lennon was shot in the back four times) and Ono screaming. The single version was longer than the album version and included a spoken word section of Sean Ono-Lennon recalling a story his father told him which was previously included on the album track "Even When You're Far Away". The B-side was "Will You Touch Me". The 12" version also contained "I Don't Know Why" and " She Gets Down on Her Knees". ''Ultimate Classic Rock'' critic Michael Gallucci rated it as Ono's 7th best song, saying that it is "one of the album's most powerful tracks." In January 2008 the song reached No. 1 on the United States '' Billboard'' Hot Dance Club Play chart. The artist credit was listed as simply "Ono" making the artist-title combination a palindrome ("onononono"). A digit ...

We're All Water
"We're All Water" is a song written by Yoko Ono that was first released on the 1972 John Lennon and Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band album ''Some Time in New York City''. It was the last song on the first record of the album, and the last song on the album that was recorded in the studio (the second record was live). Lyrics and music Ono sings the lead vocal. The lyrics of "We're All Water" describe all people as being essentially the same, despite their apparent differences. Some of the lyrics were adapted from "Water Talk," a poem Ono had written in 1967 that also used the simile of people being like water. According to Beatles biographer John Blaney, Ono believed that water had mystical properties and has the ability to "bring about physical change or social unity." As a result, Ono had used water as a theme of other art works, including her 1971 exhibition ''This is Not Here'' where the audience was invited to produce a water sculpture that Ono would work on as well, establishing a ...

Now Or Never (Yoko Ono Song)
"Now or Never" is a song written by Yoko Ono that was first released on her 1973 album '' Approximately Infinite Universe''. It was also the lead single off the album, backed by "Move on Fast." A remixed version of "Move on Fast" was later released as a single and reached #1 on the ''Billboard'' Dance Club Songs chart. "Now or Never" is a political song. According to John Lennon's biographer Peter Doggett, the lyrics of "Now or Never" sum up Ono's philosophy that "Dream you dream alone is just a dream/But dream we dream together is reality." '' Cash Box'' described it as having "a delicate social commentary with an extremely important message that should be heard by all." ''New York Times'' music critic Stephen Holden described this line as expressing a " Beatles-style utopianism." A Yoko Ono press release described the song as a "wistful wake-up call to a tuned-out, slacked-off America." Vietnam War historian Lee Andresen considered the song to be a protest against the war ...

Never Say Goodbye (single)
"Never Say Goodbye" is the second single from Yoko Ono's 1982 album ''It's Alright (I See Rainbows)''. Like many of Ono's songs from this period, the lyrics deal with her emotional healing following the murder of her husband John Lennon. The upbeat new wave song samples a recording of Lennon screaming Yoko's name from their '' Wedding Album'', followed by her son Sean waking her, as if it were a bad dream A dream is a succession of images, ideas, emotions, and sensations that usually occur involuntarily in the mind during certain stages of sleep. Humans spend about two hours dreaming per night, and each dream lasts around 5 to 20 minutes, althou .... The song garnered minor airplay upon release. "Loneliness" appeared on the B-side. The 1995 '' New York Rock'' version was also released as a single. '' Cash Box'' said that "Ono uses synthesizers, angelic back-up vocals and natural effects like buzzing bees, chirping birds and a muffled male voice to create a dark, mystical and o ...

The song appeared in Ono's off-Broadway musical '' New York Rock'' and her compilation albums ''Walking on Thin Ice'' and ''Onobox''. In 2010, the Junior Boys remix of the song was released as a free download on MySpace Music and RCRD LBL. Background "Give Me Something" was written by Yoko Ono, while the music, like the rest of the songs on ''Double Fantasy'', was produced by John Lennon, Ono, and Jack Douglas. Ono stated in an interview that "Give Me Something" was written as "feeling that I had about society. ..We’re all getting very cold now as a society." Ono further explained the song's theme of coldness to Spinner: "I remember I was envisioning a gray, cold city with people walking with hands in their pockets and putting the collars of their coats up." Critical reception Larry Fitzmaurice from Pitchfork Media described the original version as a ...

Midsummer New York
"Midsummer New York" is a song written by Yoko Ono that was released as the opening song of her 1971 album '' Fly'' and also as the b-side of the single " Mrs. Lennon." Lyrics and music "Midsummer New York" is based on the Elvis Presley song "Heartbreak Hotel." Norma Coates explains that the song begins as an "old-fashioned rock song" borrowing the melody and rhythm from "Heartbreak Hotel" as well as elements from the earlier song's accompaniment. But the references to early rock 'n' roll are undermined by Ono's vocal performance and by the lyrics. The lyrics express "female dread, fear and pain." Ben Urish and Ken Bielen interpret the lyrics as reflecting the "physical and psychological effects of a nightmarish panic attack. Coates feels that Ono's projection of these emotions are enhanced by the continual repetition of the word "shake" and "shaking." Ono restricts her vocal range and even when she nearly screams her words, Coates finds her voice to sound "oddly stifled." M ...

Lennon's work was characterised by the rebellious nature and acerbic wit of his music, writing and drawings, on film, and in interviews. His songwriting partnership with Paul McCartney remains the most successful in history. Born in Liverpool, Lennon became involved in the Skiffle#Revival in the United Kingdom, skiffle craze as a teenager. In 1956, he formed The Quarrymen, which evolved into the Beatles in 1960.
