New York City Horror Film Festival
The New York City Horror Film Festival is an international film festival based in New York City that screens films from the horror genre. It was founded by Michael J. Hein in 2001. It takes place each year in New York City for a week in November. The festival presents awards best feature film, shorts, cinematography, FX, actor and actress, screenplay, and audience choice. The festival also awards lifetime achievement awards recognizing the careers of horror filmmakers. Lifetime achievement award Since 2002, the New York City Horror Film Festival has given the Lifetime Achievement Award to one legendary horror filmmaker each year. Roger Corman
Roger William Corman (born April 5, 1926) is an American film director, producer, and actor. He has been called "The Pope of Pop Cinema" and is known as a trailblazer in the world of independent film. Many of Corman's films are based on works that have an already-established critical reputation, such as his cycle of low-budget cult films adapted from the tales of Edgar Allan Poe. ''Outcast'' is a 2010 British supernatural horror thriller film directed by Colm McCarthy and starring James Nesbitt. Plot Cathal (James Nesbitt) is a killer who is pursuing his former lover Mary (Kate Dickie). James Nesbitt
William James Nesbitt (born 15 January 1965) is an actor from Northern Ireland. From 1987, Nesbitt spent seven years performing in plays that varied from the musical '' Up on the Roof'' (1987, 1989) to the political drama ''Paddywack'' (1994). He made his feature film debut playing talent agent Fintan O'Donnell in ''Hear My Song'' (1991). ''Bereavement'' (retroactively titled ''Malevolence 2: Bereavement'') is a 2010 American crime horror film directed by Stevan Mena and starring Michael Biehn, Brett Rickaby, Alexandra Daddario, Nolan Gerard Funk, and Spencer List. A prequel to Mena's film '' Malevolence'', the story centers on an abducted six-year-old boy (List) who is forced to bear witness to the crimes of a madman (Rickaby) for five whole gruesome years. ''YellowBrickRoad'' is a 2010 American horror film directed by Jesse Holland and Andy Mitton and starring Cassidy Freeman, Anessa Ramsey and Laura Heisler. It is about an expedition to discover the fate of an entire town that disappeared into the wilderness 70 years earlier. Although critical reception was mixed, it won best film at the New York City Horror Film Festival. The film was released as part of the Bloody Disgusting Selects line. Stuart Gordon
Stuart Alan Gordon (August 11, 1947 – March 24, 2020) was an American filmmaker, theatre director, screenwriter, and playwright. Initially recognized for his provocative and frequently controversial work in experimental theatre, Gordon is perhaps more widely known for work in film. Most of Gordon's cinematic output was in the horror genre, though he also ventured into science fiction and film noir. Born in Chicago, Gordon became known for experimental and sometimes controversial live theater at the University of Wisconsin in the late 1960s. Moving back to Chicago, he founded and led the Organic Theater Company. In the early 1980s, Gordon went to California to pursue movie making.
