New York's 60th State Senate District
New York's 60th State Senate district is one of 63 districts in the New York State Senate. It has been represented by Democrat Sean Ryan since 2021, succeeding Republican Chris Jacobs, who was elected to Congress. Geography District 60 is located entirely within Erie County in Western New York, including much of southern Buffalo and the surrounding suburbs of Brant, Evans, Grand Island, Hamburg, Orchard Park, and the city and town of Tonawanda. Tonawanda (town), New York
Tonawanda (formally the Town of Tonawanda) is a town in Erie County, New York, United States. As of the 2020 census, the town had a population of 72,636. The town is at the north border of the county and is the northern inner ring suburb of Buffalo. It is sometimes referred to, along with its constituent village of Kenmore, as "Ken-Ton". The town was established in 1836, and up to 1903 it included what is now the city of Tonawanda. History This area was under French control from the 17th century until it was ceded to the British after the French and Indian War. The first European settlers arrived around 1805. Rapid growth began after the construction of the Erie Canal, completed in 1825. Tonawanda occupies the northwest corner of Erie County and is bounded on the north by the Erie Canal, which here follows Tonawanda Creek. Mark Grisanti
Mark John Grisanti (born October 21, 1964) is an American lawyer, politician, and judge from New York. After being elected to the New York State Senate in District 60 as a Republican in 2010, Grisanti took office as a State Senator on January 3, 2011. Grisanti served in the State Senate from 2011 to 2014, when he was defeated in the Republican primary and in the general election. Grisanti was appointed to the New York State Court of Claims in May 2015 and later became an Acting Justice of the Supreme Court of the State of New York, Eighth Judicial District. Alfred "Al" Coppola is a former state senator and politician in New York. A resident of Buffalo, New York, Coppola is a long time political figure in the city, who served briefly as the 57th District member in the New York Senate at the turn of the 21st century.
