New York's 26th State Senate district is one of 63 districts in the New York State Senate. It has been represented by Democrat Brian Kavanagh since his victory in a 2017 special election to replace retiring fellow Democrat Daniel Squadron. Franklin D. Roosevelt, eventual governor and U.S. president, represented this district from 1911 to 1913 under completely different lines. Geography District 26 covers much of lower Manhattan and the western Brooklyn coastline, including Tribeca, Chinatown, the Lower East Side, and the Financial District, as well as parts of Dumbo, Greenpoint, Williamsburg, Brooklyn Heights, Cobble Hill, Downtown Brooklyn, SoHo, and the East Village. Williamsburg, Brooklyn
Williamsburg is a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Brooklyn, bordered by Greenpoint to the north; Bedford–Stuyvesant to the south; Bushwick and East Williamsburg to the east; and the East River to the west. The New York State Board of Elections is a bipartisan agency of the New York state government within the New York State Executive Department responsible for enforcement and administration of election-related laws. It also regulates campaign finance disclosure and limitations through its "fair campaign code". 2020 New York State Senate Election
The 2020 New York State Senate elections were held on November 3, 2020, to elect representatives from all 63 State Senate districts across the U.S. state of New York. Primary elections were held on June 23, 2020. Prior to the 2020 elections, Democrats held 40 seats in the State Senate, while Republicans held 20 seats and three other seats were vacant. In 2018, Democrats won their greatest share of New York State Senate seats since 1912. In the 2020 elections, Democrats won 43 State Senate seats. New York's 12th congressional district is a congressional district for the United States House of Representatives located in New York City. As of 2023, it is represented by Democrat Jerry Nadler, redistricted incumbent of the former 10th congressional district who defeated incumbent Carolyn Maloney in the August 2022 Democratic primary. New York's 8th congressional district for the US House of Representatives is in the New York City boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens. Its current representative is Hakeem Jeffries. From 1993 to 2013, the district covered much of the west side of Manhattan and western coastal sections of Brooklyn. The East Village is a neighborhood on the East Side of Lower Manhattan in New York City. It is roughly defined as the area east of the Bowery and Third Avenue, between 14th Street on the north and Houston Street on the south.
