New York's 18th Congressional District
The 18th congressional district of New York is a congressional district for the United States House of Representatives that contains the northern suburbs and exurbs of New York City. It is currently represented by Democrat Sean Patrick Maloney. The 18th district includes all of Orange County, as well most of Dutchess and Ulster Counties. The district includes the cities of Newburgh, Beacon, and Poughkeepsie. Sean Patrick Maloney
Sean Patrick Maloney (born July 30, 1966) is an American lawyer and politician who served as the U.S. representative from from 2013 to 2023. The district includes Newburgh (city), New York, Newburgh, Beacon, New York, Beacon, and Poughkeepsie, New York, Poughkeepsie. A member of the Democratic Party (United States), Democratic Party, Maloney ran for New York Attorney General in 2018 New York Attorney General election, 2018, losing to Letitia James in the primary. Born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, and raised in Hanover, New Hampshire, Maloney earned his Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia. He entered politics as a volunteer for Bill Clinton's 1992 presidential campaign and later served as his senior West Wing adviser and White House Staff Secretary.
