New Worlds (magazine)
''New Worlds'' was a British science fiction magazine that began in 1936 as a fanzine called ''Novae Terrae''. John Carnell, who became ''Novae Terrae''s editor in 1939, renamed it ''New Worlds'' that year. He was instrumental in turning it into a professional publication in 1946 and was the first editor of the new incarnation. It became the leading UK science fiction magazine; the period to 1960 has been described by science fiction historian Mike Ashley as the magazine's "Golden Age". Carnell joined the British Army in 1940 following the outbreak of the Second World War and returned to civilian life in 1946. He negotiated a publishing agreement for the magazine with Pendulum Publications, but only three issues of ''New Worlds'' were produced before Pendulum's bankruptcy in late 1947. A group of science fiction fans formed a company called Nova Publications to revive the magazine; the first issue under their management appeared in mid-1949. ''New Worlds'' continued to appear on ...

New Worlds (comics)
"New Worlds" was the third story arc from Grant Morrison's run on the Marvel Comics title '' New X-Men'', running from issues #127-133. In the aftermath of both the Genoshan genocide and Cassandra Nova's revelation of Charles Xavier's mutant powers, as well as his school's function as a mutant haven, the X-Men must try to broker peace amidst rising human/mutant tensions, while still combating the mutant threats arising worldwide. This story arc not only dealt with the fallout of Genosha's destruction, but also began the psychic relationship shared by Cyclops and Emma Frost. Plot In Mutant Town, New York City's growing mutant ghetto, a monster is on the loose. At least, that's the public sentiment. When Xorn investigates the incidents sparking rumors of a "mutant, dog eating killer," he finds twelve-year-old Sonny Bean, in the midst of his adolescent mutation. Grown to a behemoth, dragon-like form, Sonny is looked after by his mother, who has decided to poison herself and Sonny rat ...

New Worlds (album)
''New Worlds'' is the third studio album by British musician Charlotte Hatherley, released on 16 October 2009 through her own label Little Sister Records. Following the release of her second studio album '' The Deep Blue'' in early 2007, Hatherley had started writing material for its follow-up in August of that year. Enlisting the help of producers Luke Smith and Adem, Hatherley recorded the album in one week at The Pool in London. Described as an indie rock, new wave, and pop release, ''New Worlds'' took inspiration from painters, and a book by Alex Ross. ''New Worlds'' received generally favourable reviews from critics, with many complimenting the songwriting. "White" was released as the album's lead single on 3 August 2009, followed by the second single "Alexander" on 11 October 2009. Between the two releases, Hatherley went on a tour of the United Kingdom, and later appeared at Blissfields festival the following year. Background and production Charlotte Hatherley releas ...

It featured music by three of the Workshop's most prominent composers, John Baker, David Cain, and Delia Derbyshire. The album was originally released by BBC Radio Enterprises in 1968 to coincide with the Workshop's tenth anniversary and later re-released in 1971 on the BBC Records label. In 2002, the compilation was remastered by Mark Ayres, and re-released with two bonus Derbyshire songs; the original composition "Time to Go" and her version of " Happy Birthday". For the 2003 release of '' Music from the BBC Radiophonic Workshop'', the 2002 remasters of this compilation were combined with Ayres' 2002 remasters of the 1975 compilation ''The Radiophonic Workshop'', and the entire set was resequenced. The music on ''BBC Radiophonic Music'' varied between incidental music and signature tunes, which had been used by various BBC programmes, as well as some radio jingles. The sele ...

New Worlds Mission
The New Worlds Mission is a proposed project comprising a large occulter flying in formation with a space telescope designed to block the light of nearby stars in order to observe their orbiting exoplanets. The observations could be taken with an existing space telescope or a dedicated visible light optical telescope optimally designed for the task of finding exoplanets. A preliminary research project was funded from 2005 through 2008 by NASA Institute for Advanced Concepts (NIAC) and headed by Webster Cash of the University of Colorado at Boulder in conjunction with Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp., Northrop Grumman, Southwest Research Institute and others. Since 2010 the project has been looking for additional financing from NASA and other sources in the amount of roughly US$3 billion including its own four-meter telescope.
