New Universe
The New Universe is an imprint (trade name), imprint from Marvel Comics that was published in its original incarnation from 1986 to 1989. It was the first line produced by Marvel Comics utilizing a pre-conceived shared universe concept. It was created by Jim Shooter, Archie Goodwin (comics), Archie Goodwin, Eliot R. Brown, Jack Morelli, John Morelli, Mark Gruenwald, Tom DeFalco, and edited by Michael Higgins. In 1986, in honor of Marvel Comics' 25th anniversary, Editor-in-Chief Jim Shooter launched the New Universe line of comics. This was to be a distinctly separate world, fully divorced from the mainstream continuity of the Marvel Universe, consisting of its own continuing characters and stories in a more realistic setting. Marvel Comics
Marvel Comics is an American comic book publishing, publisher and the flagship property of Marvel Entertainment, a divsion of The Walt Disney Company since September 1, 2009. A superhero or superheroine is a stock character that typically possesses ''superpowers'', abilities beyond those of ordinary people, and fits the role of the hero, typically using his or her powers to help the world become a better place, or dedicating themselves to protecting the public and fighting crime. Star Brand
The Star Brand is the name of a number of similar objects of power in the world of the Marvel Comics. The name "Star Brand" is also often adopted by the wielders of these objects. Three of these Star Brands have been prominently featured in series published by Marvel. The original Star Brand is a black star-shaped tattoo-like mark that first appeared in the comic book series ''Star Brand'', published by Marvel Comics as a part of its New Universe imprint from 1986 to 1989. All of the other Star Brands are alternates of this original version. The Star Brand gave its bearer infinite, god-like powers, limited only by the wielder's imagination. Spitfire (New Universe)
''Spitfire and the Troubleshooters'' (renamed ''Spitfire'' with issue #8 and ''Codename: Spitfire'' with issue #10) was a short-lived comic book series from Marvel Comics' New Universe line. It followed "Spitfire" ( Professor Jenny Swensen) and a group of brilliant but eccentric college students as they used high-tech powered exoskeletons to combat the mysterious terrorist organization called The Club. Following the series' cancellation, Swensen was redesigned as the armor-skinned paranormal Chrome, and became a regular character in '' DP7''. A different version of the character – Dr Jennifer Swann – was introduced in 2007 as part of Warren Ellis' ''newuniversal'', a single-title reworking of the New Universe concepts. Psi-Force
''Psi-Force'' was a comic book series created by Archie Goodwin and Walt Simonson and published by Marvel Comics under their New Universe imprint from 1986 to 1989. It ran for 32 issues and an Annual (October 1987). It concerned a group of adolescents who had developed psionic powers following the "White Event" which had created most of the paranormals in the New Universe. These teens, along with federal agent Emmett Proudhawk, could pool their powers into a psychic construct called the "Psi-Hawk". The title includes some of the first comics work of writer Fabian Nicieza (#9, 13, 16-32) and artist Ron Lim (#16-22). Nightmask is a name and identity used by several fictional characters who appear in comic books published by Marvel Comics.
