New Ross RFC
About New Ross RFC is an Ireland, Irish Rugby union, rugby team based in New Ross, County Wexford, playing in Division 2A of the Leinster League. Along with fielding competitive Men's J1 and J2 teams weekly (along with a 3rd team for competing in the Anderson Cup [Provincial J3]), New Ross also has a ladies team and a highly successful underage section – ranging from U-8's all the way up to Youths. This youth section has provided the club with both Provincial and International representation. New Ross RFC is the home club of current Irish International Tadhg Furlong. Tadhg played rugby in New Ross from minis up to under 19's. In 2010 he helped New Ross win the Leinster League premier division, playing on a team that also included 3 time All Ireland winning hurler Walter Walsh. Rathdrum () is a village in County Wicklow, Ireland. It is situated high on the western side of the Avonmore river valley, which flows through the Vale of Clara. Transport Railway Rathdrum is served by mainline train and bus from Dublin and Rosslare. Rathdrum railway station opened on 18 July 1863, replacing the earlier terminus at Rathdrum (Kilcommon) (opened on 20 August 1861) when the line was extended. Tadhg Furlong (born 14 November 1992) is an Irish rugby union player for Leinster in the Pro14 and European Rugby Champions Cup. His preferred position is tighthead prop. Internationally, Furlong has represented Ireland and, in 2017 and 2021, the British & Irish Lions. Furlong is an elite scrummager who also possesses good ball handling and running skills, and is considered one of the best front row forwards in world rugby. The number of teams was reduced from 14 to 13 in 2007/2008, and again from 13 to 9 in 2008/2009. Mullingar ( ; ) is the county town of County Westmeath in Ireland. It is the third most populous town in the Midland Region, with a population of 20,928 in the 2016 census. Edenderry (; ) is a town in east County Offaly, Ireland. It is near the borders with Counties Kildare, Meath and Westmeath. The Grand Canal runs along the south of Edenderry, through the Bog of Allen, and there is a short spur to the town centre.
