The New Party was a third political party in the United States that tried to re-introduce the practice of electoral fusion. In electoral fusion, the same candidate receives nomination from more than one political party and occupies more than one ballot line. Fusion was once common in the United States but is now commonly practiced only in New York State, although it is allowed by law in seven other states. The party was active from 1992 to 1998. (There had been an earlier, unrelated New Party in 1968 that ran Eugene McCarthy for president.) The party described itself as "a party of economic liberalism, political reform and internationalism". The New Party was a political party briefly active in the United Kingdom in the early 1930s. It was formed by Sir Oswald Mosley, an MP who had belonged to both the Conservative and Labour parties, quitting Labour after its 1930 conference narrowly rejected his " Mosley Memorandum", a document he had written outlining how he would deal with the problem of unemployment. New Party ( tr, Yeni Parti) was a former Turkish political party. After Turgut Özal was elected as the President of Turkey, he resigned from the Motherland Party (ANAP) because of constitutional reasons. On 30 November 1992, he was replaced by Mesut Yılmaz. Next day, Yusuf Bozkurt Özal, Turgut Özal's younger brother, together with a group of deputies resigned from ANAP. On 7 October 1993, Yusuf Bozkurt Özal founded the New Party. However, in the general elections held on 24 December 1995, the party could receive only 0.13% of votes. After this defeat, the party was merged to another party in 1997 November. The New Party (NP) (; Hakka: ''Sîn Tóng''), formerly the Chinese New Party (CNP), is a Chinese nationalist political party in the Republic of China (Taiwan). History The New Party was formed on 22 August 1993 out of a split from the then-ruling Kuomintang (KMT) by members of the New Kuomintang Alliance. Members of the Alliance had accused KMT Chairman Lee Teng-hui of autocratic tendencies and moving the party away from Chinese unification. Co-founders of the New Party included Chen Kuei-miao. Originally, the party wanted to keep the name of the faction, but was prevented from doing so due to the similarity of names. The name "New Party" was seemingly inspired by the contemporary electoral success of the Japan New Party ("Nihon Shintō"; see Politics of Japan). The New Party ( lv, Jaunā Partija, JP) was a centrist political party in Latvia. Formed by composer Raimonds Pauls, the party won eight seats in the Saeima at the 1998 election on the back of Pauls's popularity. After the election, the JP entered into a minority government with Latvian Way and For Fatherland and Freedom/LNNK. In the June 1999 presidential election, the party nominated Pauls for the presidency, and Pauls came first after five ballots, but withdrew his candidacy, as he still couldn't receive more than a third of the votes. The New Party Nippon (新党日本 ''Shintō Nippon'') was a Japanese political party formed on August 21, 2005. The party was headed by the former Nagano governor Yasuo Tanaka, and includes Diet members Kōki Kobayashi (deputy leader), Takashi Aoyama, Makoto Taki, and Hiroyuki Arai, who left the Liberal Democratic Party in opposition to Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi’s postal privatization drive. The new party was seen as aiming to appeal toward urban voters, while the People's New Party, formed around the same time by other LDP rebels, had a more rural support base.
