State Road 445 (NM 445) is a state highway in the US state of New Mexico. Maxwell, New Mexico
Maxwell is a village in Colfax County, New Mexico, United States. The population was 254 at the 2010 census, down from 274 in 2000. Maxwell was established in 1879 as a railroad town on the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. It was named in honor of Lucien Maxwell, who provided the land for the original townsite from his Maxwell Land Grant. Geography Maxwell is located near the center of Colfax County at (36.539487, -104.542630), in the valley of the Canadian River. Interstate 25 passes through the east side of the village, with access from Exit 426. I-25 leads north to Raton, the Colfax County seat, and southwest to Las Vegas. According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of , all land. The United States Fish and Wildlife Service manages the Maxwell National Wildlife Refuge, located northwest of the village. Colfax County is a county in the U.S. state of New Mexico. As of the 2010 census, the population was 13,750. Its county seat is Raton. It is south from the Colorado state line. This county was named for Schuyler Colfax (18231885), seventeenth Vice President of the United States under U.S. President Ulysses S. Grant. Colfax County is the home of Philmont Scout Ranch and the NRA Whittington Center. History Colfax County was originally part of Taos County, one of the original nine counties created by the New Mexico Territory in 1852. In 1859, the eastern part of Taos County, including all of the territory of Colfax County, was split off to form Mora County. Interstate 25 In New Mexico
Interstate 25 (I-25) in the US state of New Mexico follows the north–south corridor through Albuquerque and Santa Fe. It replaced U.S. Route 85 (US 85), which is no longer signed, but still exists in route logs sharing the I-25 alignment. I-25 starts in New Mexico at an interchange with I-10 in Las Cruces and extends roughly before reaching Colorado. I-25 passes through principally rural land through central New Mexico and passes through or near the cities of Las Cruces, Truth or Consequences, Socorro, Belen, Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Las Vegas, and Raton.
