The New Mexico Military Institute Summer Camp, Main Building was built in 1926. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. It is located in a ravine near the Carrizo River, in Lincoln County, New Mexico, near Ruidoso, New Mexico. The building is U-shaped and reflects a mix of Revivals styles,with rustic simplicity appropriate to the wilderness setting of New Mexico's White Mountains: the Spanish-Pueblo Revival Styles, and the English Tudor Collegiate Gothic Revival Style, with some suggestions of the Italianate Villa Revival Style. Ruidoso, New Mexico
Ruidoso is a village in Lincoln County, New Mexico, United States, adjacent to the Lincoln National Forest. The population was 8,029 at the 2010 census. The city of Ruidoso Downs and the unincorporated area of Alto are suburbs of Ruidoso, and contribute to the Ruidoso Micropolitan Statistical Area's population of 21,223. A mountain resort town, Ruidoso lies in the Sierra Blanca mountain range of south-central New Mexico, where it merges with the Sacramento Mountains to the south. Ruidoso is a resort community close to the slopes of Ski Apache, the Mescalero Apache Tribe-owned ski resort on Sierra Blanca, an almost mountain. Carrizo River
The Carrizo Creek of New Mexico and Texas is a watercourse. It extends from west of Grenville, New Mexico into Texas, flowing into Rita Blanca Creek just west of Dalhart, Texas. With Rita Blanca Creek being a tributary of the Canadian River, water from Carrizo Creek eventually travels via the Arkansas and Mississippi rivers to reach the Gulf of Mexico. It is sometimes also known as the Carrizo River. Lincoln County, New Mexico
Lincoln County is a county in the U.S. state of New Mexico. As of the 2010 census, the population was 20,497. Its county seat is Carrizozo, while its largest community is Ruidoso. History Lincoln County was named in honor of President Abraham Lincoln. It was once the largest county in the United States. In the late 1870s the Lincoln County War began between ranchers and the owners of the county's largest general store. William Bonney, better known as Billy the Kid, became involved on the side of the ranchers after his friend and employer was killed. In the end, Bonney killed the county sheriff, a deputy, and the deputy that killed his friend. Several other people were slain in the conflict, which included the other leader of the rancher faction. The White Mountains of Arizona is a mountain range and mountainous region in the eastern part of the state, near the border with New Mexico; it is a continuation from the west of the Arizona transition zone–Mogollon Rim, with the Rim ending in western New Mexico. Pueblo Revival Architecture
The Pueblo Revival style or Santa Fe style is a regional architectural style of the Southwestern United States, which draws its inspiration from Santa Fe de Nuevo México's traditional Pueblo architecture, the Spanish missions, and Territorial Style. The style developed at the beginning of the 20th century and reached its greatest popularity in the 1920s and 1930s, though it is still commonly used for new buildings. Collegiate Gothic is an architectural style subgenre of Gothic Revival architecture, popular in the late-19th and early-20th centuries for college and high school buildings in the United States and Canada, and to a certain extent Europe.
