New Maryland-Sunbury West
New Maryland-Sunbury is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, Canada. History It was created in 1994 as a totally new district taking in large parts of York South and Sunbury as well as small pieces of several other districts. In the 2006 redistribution of districts, it lost the community of Lincoln due to the rapid growth of both Lincoln and the village of New Maryland, both bedroom communities for Fredericton. Also in 2006, the legislature decided to change the name from New Maryland to New Maryland-Sunbury West to reflect that the district contains much more than just the community of New Maryland. The district expanded eastward in 2013 to take in most of southern Sunbury County, including the Geary area. New Brunswick Electoral Redistribution, 1994
The 1994 New Brunswick electoral redistribution was the first re-alignment of electoral districts in New Brunswick, Canada, since 1973. Under this redistribution, several districts were changed significantly due to considerable population shifts from the northern part of the province to the south. The total number of districts was reduced from 58 to 55. Due to considerable population shifts over the course of two decades, some ridings were merged, while others were split in two, and some were unchanged. New Brunswick Electoral Redistribution, 2013
The 2013 New Brunswick electoral redistribution was undertaken through the process set out in the ''Electoral Boundaries and Representation Act'' of New Brunswick, Canada. The legislation establishes a statutory requirement for redistribution of electoral districts after every second New Brunswick general election. A commission was struck to draw 49 electoral districts, a decrease from 55 districts, which will first be used in the 2014 provincial election. The 49 boundaries will have to be within the range of 95% to 105% of the 1/49th of the number of registered voters in the province except in "extraordinary circumstances". Under the legislation, the commission will be chaired by one anglophone and one francophone and consist of 3 to 5 other commissioners, all of whom must be New Brunswick residents. Joan Margaret Kingston (born January 8, 1955) is a nurse, teacher and former political figure in New Brunswick, Canada. She represented New Maryland in the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick as a Liberal member from 1995 to 1999. Keith Ashfield
Keith John Ashfield (March 28, 1952 – April 22, 2018) was a Canadian politician. He served as the member of Parliament (MP) for the electoral district of Fredericton from 2008 to 2015 and, before that, was a member of the New Brunswick Legislature from 1999 to 2008. Mackenzie Thomason (born July 29, 1997) is a Canadian politician and former leader of the New Brunswick New Democratic Party. Jenica Atwin (''née'' Powell; born January 10, 1987) is a Canadian politician who was elected to represent the riding of Fredericton in the House of Commons of Canada in the 2019 Canadian federal election. Atwin was the first Member of Parliament of the Green Party of Canada to be elected outside of British Columbia and the first woman to be elected in the riding of Fredericton.
