''New Hate'' is the second EP by Israeli groove metal band Betzefer, released in May 2003. It was mixed by ex- Eternal Gray guitarist Eyal Glotman and recorded in his studio, with mastering by Maor Appelbaum. This was the band's last unsigned release, as their next release was already on the Roadrunner Records label. Betzefer
Betzefer ( he, בצפר) is an Israeli groove metal band originating from the community settlement Maccabim-Re'ut. The band was formed up in 1998 and was signed to Roadrunner Records from 2005 to 2007. Betzefer is notable for becoming Israel's first heavy metal band to have released its debut album on a major heavy metal label. Betzefer's biggest influence is Slayer, while Pantera and Sepultura are also credited as being major influences. The band's second album was produced by Down producer Warren Riker. History Early years (1998–2004) Betzefer was formed in 1998 for a one-off high school gig. This fact is the origin of the band's name, which is an ad lib translation of the Hebrew term "Beit Sefer", meaning "school". The original lineup included singer Avital Tamir, guitarist Matan Cohen, drummer Roey Berman and bassist Menashe "Mashy" Hazan. Groove metal is a subgenre of heavy metal music that began in the early 1990s. The genre achieved success in the 1990s and continued having success in the 2000s. Inspired by thrash metal and traditional heavy metal, groove metal features raspy singing and screaming, down-tuned guitars, heavy guitar riffs, and syncopated rhythms. Unlike thrash metal, groove metal is usually slower and also uses elements of traditional heavy metal. Down Low (album)
''Down Low'' is Israeli groove metal band Betzefer's first full-length studio album and major label debut on Roadrunner Records, as well as their only album on that label. It was released on May 19, 2005, in Israel and June 6, 2005, worldwide. It is the band's first release with current bassist Rotem Inbar. "Down Low", "Early Grave" and "Running Against" were released as singles and videos were made for those songs. "Fuckin Rock N' Roll" was released for radio airplay and as a promotional CD single, but a video was not made for the song. The ending of "Down Low" is a ripoff from Machine Head's "Davidian", though uncredited. Although it was supposed to be the band's first album in a 5 albums deal contract with Roadrunner Records, the band left the label in December 2007, stating professional reasons, though numerous sources reported that it was the label that dropped the band due to personal reasons with the band's behavior. Eternal Gray was a technical death metal band originating from Tel Aviv, Israel. The band was known as one of the most respected bands in the Israeli heavy metal music, heavy metal scene, and has gathered very positive feedback abroad. On December 22, 2012, after 11 years of activity, band leader Dory Bar-Or announced that he has decided to put the band to an end. Avital Tamir ( he, אביטל תמיר) is an Israeli musician best known for his work as the lead singer for successful metal band Betzefer and for his experimental pop trio On Shoulders of Giants. He was also briefly a member of fellow Betzefer bandmate Matan Cohen's death metal band Nail Within.
