The New Hampshire State Register of Historic Places (NHSRHP) is a register of historic places administered by the state of New Hampshire and the New Hampshire Division of Historical Resources. Buildings, districts, sites, landscapes (such as cemeteries, parks or town forests), structures, or objects can be added to the register. The register was initiated in 2001 and is authorized bRSA 227 C:33 , there were 406 properties in the State Register, 54 of which were also in the National Register of Historic Places. In some instances, the State Register lists multiple buildings individually, while the same buildings are encompassed by a single entry in the National Register—two such examples are the Hebron Village Historic District and the Waumbek Cottages Historic District. Bennington and Francestown, neighboring towns in Hillsborough County, each have 35 properties listed in the State Register, the most of any town or city. The Benjamin Aldrich Homestead is a historic homestead east of the terminus of Aldrich Road, slightly east of Piper Hill in Colebrook, New Hampshire. Acworth Congregational Church
Acworth Congregational Church (The Church-on-the-Hill or Acworth Meetinghouse) is a historic church at the end of the town common in Acworth, New Hampshire. Built in 1821, its exterior is a well-preserved local example of Federal period architecture, with possible attribution to Elias Carter. Its interior now exhibits a Victorian-era design, distinctive because it has survived later alteration. The church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. Acworth, New Hampshire
Acworth is a town in Sullivan County, New Hampshire, United States. At the 2020 census, the town had a total population of 853. History Originally chartered by colonial governor Benning Wentworth in 1752, it was called "Burnet" after William Burnet, a former governor of the Province of Massachusetts Bay. In 1754, however, the French and Indian War broke out, and no settlements were made under the charter. Joseph Laurent
Joseph Laurent ( abe, Sozap Lolô; 1839–1917), was an Abenaki chief, best known for authoring an Abenaki language dictionary. He also established a trading post in New Hampshire that is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Biography Laurent was chief of the Abenaki reserve of Odanak in Quebec, Canada, from 1880 to 1892. He was a teacher and leader in his Algonquian community, and the Odanak Nation throughout his life. Laurent is best known for the publication of his book ''New Familiar Abenakis and English Dialogues''. The book is a dictionary that translates Abenaki to English, and was the first of its kind. The structure of the dictionary is what widely sets it apart from others. His translations are set up as a journey through their land as opposed to a standard list. Abenaki Indian Shop And Camp
The Abenaki Indian Shop and Camp is a historic Native American site in the Intervale section of Conway, New Hampshire. The site is a camp established by Abenakis who were lured to the area by the prospect of making baskets and selling them to visitors to the resort areas of the White Mountains in the late 19th century, and operated into the late 20th century. The site was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991, and has also been listed on the New Hampshire State Register of Historic Places.
