New Hampshire Route 156 (NH 156) is a secondary north–south highway in Rockingham County in southeastern New Hampshire. The road runs from Raymond to Nottingham. The southern terminus of NH 156 is at New Hampshire Route 27 and New Hampshire Route 107 on the east side of Raymond. The northern terminus is in Nottingham at NH 152. Route description NH 156 begins at an intersection with NH 27 and NH 107 in Raymond, located near the exit 5 interchange of NH 101. The short highway travels north in a generally northeastern direction. It passes by two cemeteries and Pawtuckaway Lake before reaching its northern terminus at an intersection with NH 152 in Nottingham. Raymond, New Hampshire
Raymond is a town in Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 10,684 at the 2020 census. Part of Pawtuckaway State Park is in the north. The main village in town, where 3,738 people resided at the 2020 census, is defined as the Raymond census-designated place (CDP), and is located along the Lamprey River near New Hampshire Route 27. History The town was first settled by families from Exeter as a parish of Chester, and known as "Freetown" because it was exempt from the usual obligation of reserving its tall pine trees for masts in the Royal Navy. The town was incorporated in 1764 by colonial governor Benning Wentworth. There are at least two theories regarding the source of the town's name. Nottingham is a town in Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 5,229 at the 2020 census, up from 4,785 at the 2010 census. It is the location of Pawtuckaway State Park. History Incorporated in 1722 by Lieutenant Governor John Wentworth, Nottingham was named for Daniel Finch, 2nd Earl of Nottingham. The earl was a close friend of Samuel Shute and Joseph Dudley, previous colonial governors of New Hampshire. Among the grantees was Peregrine White, descendant of Peregrine White of the ''Mayflower'', the first child of English parentage born in New England. At one time, the town had 17 watermills in operation. New Hampshire Route 27 (abbreviated NH 27) is a long east–west highway in southeastern New Hampshire. The western terminus of NH 27 is in Hooksett at U.S. Route 3 and New Hampshire Route 28 north of Manchester. The eastern terminus is in Hampton Beach at New Hampshire Route 1A, which runs along the New Hampshire coastline adjacent to the Atlantic Ocean. New Hampshire Route 107 is a north–south state highway in eastern New Hampshire. It connects Laconia in the Lakes Region with Seabrook on the Atlantic coast. The southern terminus of NH 107 is at U.S. Route 1 in Seabrook near the entrance to Seabrook Station Nuclear Power Plant. The northern terminus is at U.S. Route 3 on the Laconia/ Gilford town line. New Hampshire Route 152 (abbreviated NH 152) is a east–west highway in Rockingham and Strafford counties in southeastern New Hampshire. It runs from an intersection with U.S. Route 4 near the Northwood/Nottingham town line east to an intersection with New Hampshire Route 108 in Newmarket. Route description NH 152 begins at US 4 in Northwood, just yards west of the Nottingham town line. New Hampshire Route 101 (NH 101) is a state-maintained highway in southern New Hampshire extending from Keene to Hampton Beach. It is the major east–west highway in the southern portion of the state. The western terminus of NH 101 is in Keene at the junction with New Hampshire Routes 9, 10 and 12. The eastern terminus is in Hampton Beach at the junction with Ocean Boulevard ( NH 1A). Pawtuckaway Lake
__NOTOC__ Pawtuckaway Lake (official name Pawtuckaway Pond) is a reservoir in Rockingham County in southeastern New Hampshire, United States, in the town of Nottingham. The lake is located in the Piscataqua River drainage basin. The lake presently has two dams and three dikes. The dam on the southern end of the lake, Dolloff Dam, feeds the Pawtuckaway River, which flows southeast to the Lamprey River in the western part of the town of Epping. The dam at the north end of the lake, Drown's Dam, releases water to the Bean River, leading to the North River and ultimately the Lamprey River in the northern part of Epping. Approximately half of the lake's shoreline consists of private homes with a mixture of seasonal and year-round residents.
