New Hampshire's 13th State Senate district is one of 24 districts in the New Hampshire Senate. It has been represented by Democrat Cindy Rosenwald since 2018, succeeding fellow Democrat Bette Lasky. Geography District 13 is based in Nashua in Hillsborough County, including the city's 3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th wards. The district is located entirely within New Hampshire's 2nd congressional district. 2012 New Hampshire Gubernatorial Election
The 2012 New Hampshire gubernatorial election took place on November 6, 2012, concurrently with the 2012 U.S. presidential election, U.S. House elections, and various state and local elections. Four-term incumbent governor John Lynch was eligible to seek a fifth term. In the fall of 2011, Lynch announced that he would retire rather than run for re-election. On September 11, 2012, Democrat Maggie Hassan and Republican Ovide Lamontagne defeated primary opponents to win their parties' nominations. Margaret Coldwell Hassan (; née Wood; born February 27, 1958) is an American politician and attorney serving as the junior United States senator from New Hampshire. A Democrat, Hassan was elected to the Senate in 2016 while serving as the 81st governor of New Hampshire, an office she held from 2013 to 2017. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Hassan is a graduate of Brown University and earned a J.D. from the Northeastern University School of Law. After graduating from law school in 1985, she worked at the law firm Palmer & Dodge. She later worked as associate general counsel for Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Cynthia Jeanne Shaheen ( ; née Bowers, born January 28, 1947) is an American retired educator and politician serving as the senior United States senator from New Hampshire since 2009. A member of the Democratic Party, Shaheen served as the 78th governor of New Hampshire from 1997 to 2003. She was the first woman elected governor of New Hampshire, the first woman elected to the Senate from New Hampshire, and the first woman elected as both a governor and a U.S. senator.
