New Castle Quakers
The New Castle Quakers were a minor league baseball team based in New Castle, Pennsylvania. The Quakers played as members of the 1895 Iron and Oil League before becoming members of the Class D level Interstate League from 1896 to 1900, winning the 1899 league title. The New Castle Quakers hosted home minor league games at Pearson Park through 1897 before moving to the new Cascade Park for the next two seasons. History 1895 Iron & Oil League The city first hosted minor league baseball in 1883, when the New Castle "Nashannocks" team played as members of the Western Interstate League. In 1884, the team continued play in the Iron & Oil Association, finishing in fourth place with a 20–24 record. Mansfield is a market town and the administrative centre of Mansfield District in Nottinghamshire, England. It is the largest town in the wider Mansfield Urban Area (followed by Sutton-in-Ashfield). Charles Edwin Smith (April 20, 1880 – January 3, 1929) was a pitcher in Major League Baseball who played from through for the Cleveland Bronchos (1902), Washington Senators (1906–1909), Boston Red Sox (1909–1911) and Chicago Cubs (1911–1914). Listed at , 185 pounds, Smith batted and threw right-handed. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio. His older brother, Fred Smith, was an infielder in the majors. Toledo Mud Hens
The Toledo Mud Hens are a Minor League Baseball team of the International League and the Triple-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. They are located in Toledo, Ohio, and play their home games at Fifth Third Field. A Mud Hens team has played in Toledo for most seasons since 1896, including a 50-year history as a member of the now defunct American Association. The current franchise was established in 1965. They joined Triple-A East in 2021, but this was renamed the International League in 2022.
