New Beginnings (红白囍事) is a 20-episode Singaporean drama which debuted on 14 April 2010. It stars Jeanette Aw, Elvin Ng, Tay Ping Hui, Jesseca Liu, Zhang Zhenhuan, Tracy Tan, & Joshua Ang. Cast Other characters Plot The plot revolves around the Li family, who are in the wedding business, and the Cai family, who run a mortuary. The Chinese traditionally believe that the "red" (represents fortune and happiness) and "white" (associated with death) are not to be associated. As fate would have it, the younger generation cross paths and love blossoms. Awards & nominations ''New Beginnings'' was well received by audiences. Jeanette Aw Ee-Ping (born 28 June 1979), better known by her stage name Ou Xuan (), is a Singaporean actress, filmmaker, businesswoman and writer. Aw was named as one of the Seven Princesses of Mediacorp in 2006, after which she achieved wider success with her leading role in acclaimed drama '' The Little Nyonya''. Yuan Shuai () is a Chinese actor and host currently based in Singapore. Career Yuan came to prominence after winning MediaCorp's ''U Are the One'' in 2008, a talent search for Channel U's Fresh Face of the Year. It is part of the annual ''Star Awards'' organised by MediaCorp for the two free-to-air channels, MediaCorp Channel 8 and MediaCorp Channel U.
