With A Little Luck
"With a Little Luck" is a single by the band Wings from their 1978 album '' London Town''. Writing, recording and release "With a Little Luck" was written in Scotland and was Wings' follow-up single to the then best-selling UK Single of all time, "Mull of Kintyre." It was recorded in May 1977 in the Virgin Islands aboard the boat ''Fair Carol'', which had been fitted with a 24-track studio, for the album '' London Town''. The album, which had the working title ''Water Wings'' was released in March 1978 as the band's seventh album. During these recordings, Wings' lead guitarist Jimmy McCulloch and drummer Joe English had recorded tracks but had left, returning the band to the three-piece line-up which had recorded ''Band on the Run'' in 1973. McCartney played electric piano, bass and synthesiser in the song; English was probably on drums, while Denny Laine and Linda McCartney helped with some keyboards. "With a Little Luck" was released in March 1978 as the first single from th ...

Calico Skies
"Calico Skies" is the sixth song on Paul McCartney's 1997 album, ''Flaming Pie''. McCartney had been staying on Long Island when the category-three storm Hurricane Bob that made landfall had hit in August 1991. This made McCartney sit with an acoustic guitar and write what he describes as "a gentle love song that becomes a 1960s protest song". The song was co-produced by George Martin and McCartney, being started, finished, and mixed within a single session on 3 September 1992 in Sussex, England. It is the earliest recording on ''Flaming Pie''. McCartney says of the song: "Bob” the hurricane, knocked out all the power; it was all candle-light, cooking on a woodfire. Very primitive, but we like that enforced simplicity. I couldn't play records, so I made up little acoustic pieces. This was one of them—it's a primitive little powercut memory." "Calico Skies" was arranged for string quartet; this version was included on McCartney's 1999 album '' Working Classical''. The song wa ...

Bluebird (Paul McCartney & Wings Song)
"Bluebird" is a song written by Paul and Linda McCartney and originally performed by the British rock band Wings, released on their 1973 album ''Band on the Run''. According to author John Blaney, it was written during a vacation in Jamaica. However, author Vincent Benitez claims the song was written as early as 1970 or 1971, noting that Paul and Linda sang the song during a live interview in New York City in 1971. In Continental Europe it was also released as the B-side of the "Mrs. Vandebilt" single. Recording and music "Bluebird" was reportedly composed by McCartney in 1971, during his holiday in Jamaica. Although much of the ''Band on the Run'' album was recorded in Lagos, Nigeria in August and September 1973, "Bluebird" was completed later in 1973 at AIR Studios in London. The percussionist on the song, Remi Kabaka, was from Lagos but happened to be in London when the song was being recorded. One highlight of the song is a saxophone solo played by session musician Howie Cas ...

Once Upon A Long Ago
"Once Upon a Long Ago" is a song by English musician Paul McCartney, released as his fortieth single on 16 November 1987, from his compilation ''All the Best!'', released two weeks before the single. The track was produced by Phil Ramone and mixed by George Martin, and features violin by Nigel Kennedy. The song was originally composed for the film ''The Princess Bride''. Recording Originally it was intended that this song would be a duet between McCartney and Freddie Mercury. The two had known each other only casually, as Mercury was a fan of Buddy Holly and would occasionally attend McCartney's Holly-inspired events over the years. However, they became proper friends following socializing that took place after Live Aid. McCartney, who had sympathy for Mercury due to the press stalking him for stories about his health, wrote the song with Mercury in mind. Mercury, however, was inundated with work, both solo and with Queen, and McCartney continued the project without him. McCartne ...

Put It There
"Put It There" is a 1990 single from Paul McCartney's 1989 album, ''Flowers in the Dirt''. The song reached number 32 on the UK singles chart. The lyrics were inspired by an expression of friendship and solace that McCartney learned from his father, "Put it there andshakeif it weighs a ton." Overview Like other songs from ''Flowers in the Dirt'', despite the song's modest chart success, to date "Put It There" has not been included yet on any McCartney compilation album. The 7" single also included " Mama's Little Girl", a Wings song that had been originally recorded in 1972 but had been remixed and produced in its current version in 1987 by McCartney and Chris Thomas. The 12" single included "Same Time Next Year", a second Wings song which had been recorded on 5 and 6 May 1978 at RAK Studios, as a possible theme for the film '' Same Time, Next Year''. It had also been remixed and produced in 1987 by McCartney and Thomas. The 12" single was also released as limited edition (12 ...

Silly Love Songs
"Silly Love Songs" is a song by the British–American rock band Wings that was written by Paul and Linda McCartney. The song first appeared in March 1976 on the album ''Wings at the Speed of Sound,'' then it was released as a single backed with "Cook of the House" on 1 April in the US, and 30 April in the UK. The song, which features disco overtones, was written in response to music critics accusing McCartney of predominantly writing "silly love songs" and "sentimental slush". The song was McCartney's 27th number one as a songwriter; the all-time record for the most number one hits achieved by a songwriter. With this song, McCartney became the first person to have a year-end No. 1 song as a member of two distinct acts. McCartney previously hit No. 1 in the year-end '' ''Billboard'''' chart as a member of the Beatles with "I Want to Hold Your Hand" in 1964 and "Hey Jude" in 1968. "Silly Love Songs" has since appeared on multiple McCartney greatest hits compilations, including ''W ...

Take It Away (Paul McCartney Song)
"Take It Away" is a single by Paul McCartney from his 1982 album ''Tug of War''. The single spent sixteen weeks on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 singles chart, reaching #10 and spending five consecutive weeks at that position. It reached #15 in the UK. The music video, directed by John Makenzie, features former Beatles drummer Ringo Starr and long-time producer George Martin, both of whom played on the track, as well as actor John Hurt and Linda McCartney. ''Cash Box'' said that it's a "dense, multi-layered pop confection" that "keeps the listener on his/her toes throughout the song, going from a lazy tropical-type rhythm to a galloping brass section." ''Ultimate Classic Rock'' critic Nick DeRiso rated it as the best song on ''Tug of War'', stating that it starts "with an off-kilter rhythm courtesy of Ringo Starr and all of the tasteful hallmarks of a George Martin production" and becomes "one of McCartney's patented pop confections, featuring a feverish horn counterpoint, deceptiv ...
