Never Again (Agnetha Song)
"Never Again" is a song by Swedish singer Tomas Ledin from his tenth studio album, ''The Human Touch'' (1982). Overview Although Ledin was a well-known figure in Sweden, he was relatively unknown outside of the country. Stig Anderson, the owner of Polar Music and manager of the band ABBA, believed in Ledin's singing ability and wanted to promote him across the continent. Upon hearing "Never Again", Anderson thought this song would make a good duet, and suggested ABBA's Agnetha Fältskog to record the song with him. Although a duet, Ledin and Fältskog were not together in the studio when they laid down their vocal tracks. Release and reception Released as a single, "Never Again" peaked at No. 2 in Sweden and was also a top-10 entry in Norway and Belgium. Tomas Folke Jonas Ledin (; born 25 February 1952) is a Swedish singer, songwriter, musician, and record producer. He grew up in the town of Sandviken, Sweden and has sold 3 million records. Career Tomas Ledin started his career in 1972 when his first single, "Då ska jag spela", was a big hit. Other successful songs followed: "Blå, blå känslor" (1973), (covered by Björn Skifs), "Knivhuggarrock" (1975), "Festen har börjat" (1976), and "I natt är jag din" (1977). At the beginning of the 70s, Ledin was influenced by hippie fashion and demonstrated against the Vietnam war. He also took part in a Swedish stage production of the musical ''Godspell'' in 1975 and performed in 140 concerts in the Swedish folkparks in 1977. Polar Music is a Swedish record company founded in 1963 by Stig Anderson and his friend Bengt Bernhag. Background The first act that Polar Music signed was the Hootenanny Singers featuring Björn Ulvaeus. Polar eventually gained prosperity producing Ulvaeus' next group, international superstars ABBA. As a small Scandinavian company based in Sweden, Polar could not afford to set up operations worldwide and was ABBA's record company only in the Scandinavian countries. Therefore, ABBA's recordings were licensed to different record companies in each country, but usually to companies that had international operations, meaning they could effectively compete with each other to acquire the licenses in more countries if they proved successful in their own. Stig Erik Leopold Anderson (25 January 1931 – 12 September 1997), better known as Stikkan Anderson, was a Swedish music manager, lyricist and music publisher. He was the co-founder of Polar Music, and is best known for managing the Swedish pop band ABBA. Early life Stig Anderson was born on 25 January 1931 in Hova, Sweden, the son of a single mother named Ester. Anderson began his career as a chemistry and mathematics teacher at a primary school, by taking night classes after leaving school at the age of 15.
