Edward Neuman
Edward Neuman (born September 19, 1943 in Rydułtowy, Silesian Voivodeship, Poland) is a Polish-American mathematician, currently a professor emeritus of mathematics at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Academic career Neuman received his Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Wrocław in 1972 under the supervision of wmpl:Stefan Paszkowski. His dissertation was entitled "Projections in Uniform Polynomial Approximation." He held positions at the Institute of Mathematics and the Institute of Computer Sciences of the University of Wroclaw, and the Institute of Applied Mathematics Bonn in Germany. In 1986, he took a permanent faculty position at Southern Illinois University. Contributions Neuman has contributed 130 journal articles in computational mathematics and mathematical inequalities such as the Ky Fan inequality, on bivariate means, and mathematical approximations and expansions. Brandon P. Neuman is a politician from the U.S. Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. A member of the Democratic Party, he represented the 48th district in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Alberto Neuman (1933 – 29 January 2021) was an Argentine pianist. Career Neuman was born in Buenos Aires. A disciple of Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli, he began his career while a student at the Roma Conservatory. In 1961 he won the international Viotti Piano Competition in Vercelli. He studied also with Carlo Zecchi, Walter Gieseking, Vincenzo Scaramuzza, Galia Schalman and Wilhelm Kempff. Neuman has been active as a concert pianist mainly in Europe, but has also performed regularly at Japan and Latin America. He was previously a professor at the Paris Conservatoire Supérieur and at the Conservatoire d'Angoulême. Andrés Neuman (born January 28, 1977) is a Spanish- Argentine writer, poet, translator, columnist and blogger. The son of Argentine émigré musicians, he was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to a mother of French and Spanish descent and a father of Eastern European-Jewish descent. He spent his childhood in Buenos Aires, before going into exile with his family to Granada, Spain. Molly Neuman (born June 18, 1972) is an American drummer, writer and publisher, originally from the Washington, D.C. area who has performed in such influential bands as Bratmobile, the Frumpies, and the PeeChees. She was a pioneer of the early-to-mid '90s riot grrrl movement, penning the zine which coined the phrase in its title. She also co-wrote ''Girl Germs'' with Bratmobile singer Allison Wolfe while the two were students at the University of Oregon; that title later became the name of a Bratmobile song. Otto Christian Neuman was a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives. Biography Neuman was born on June 29, 1869, in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota. He moved with his parents to Traverse County, Minnesota, in 1886. In 1893, he married his first wife, Mary. They had one daughter before her death.
