The Réseau Express Régional ( en, Regional Express Network), commonly abbreviated RER (), is a hybrid commuter rail and rapid transit system serving Paris and its Île-de-France, suburbs. It acts as a combined city-centre underground rail system and suburbs-to-city-centre commuter rail. In the city centre it acts much like the Paris Métro, though faster, having fewer stops. This has made it a model for proposals to improve transit within other cities. The network consists of five lines: RER A, A, RER B, B, RER C, C, RER D, D and RER E, E. The network has 257 stations and has interchanges with the Paris Métro, Métro and Transilien, commuter rail within the City of Paris and the suburbs. Torcy () is a railway station in Torcy, Seine-et-Marne, a suburb east of Paris. History Torcy opened on 19 December 1980 as part of an extension of the A4 branch from its previous eastern terminal of Noisy-le-Grand–Mont d'Est. It served as the eastern terminus of the A4 branch for twelve years until 1 April 1992, when the RER A4 was extended to Marne-la-Vallée–Chessy; since then, the A4 branch has yet to be extended. Noctilien is the night bus service in Paris and its agglomeration. It is managed by the Île-de-France Mobilités (formerly the STIF), the Île-de-France regional public transit authority, and operated by RATP (with 32 lines) and Transilien SNCF (with 16 lines). It replaced the previous '' Noctambus'' service on the night of 20/21 September 2005, providing for a larger number of lines than before and claiming to be better adapted to night-time transport needs. Gagny () is a commune in the eastern suburbs of Paris, France. It is located from the center of Paris. Geography Location Gagny is located 10 km to the east of Paris. Until the law of 10 July 1964, the commune was part of the department of Seine-et-Oise. The redivision of the old departments of Seine and Seine-et-Oise then made this commune a part of Seine-Saint-Denis after an administrative transfer that went into effect 1 January 1968.
