''Nettavisen'' is a Norwegian online newspaper, launched in 1996 as the first online-only newspaper in Norway. The current editor is Gunnar Stavrum. As of 2015 it was one of Norway's most popular news websites. History The online newspaper (its literal name in Norwegian) was launched on 1 November 1996, and was founded by Odd Harald Hauge, Stig Eide Sivertsen and Knut Ivar Skeid. In 1999 the newspaper was bought by Spray Sweden, which became part of Lycos Europe in 2000. In 2000 the founders of ''Nettavisen'' helped launch the (now-defunct) German sister site ''Netzeitung''. In 2002 ''Nettavisen'' was bought by Norway's largest commercial television channel '' TV 2''. Due to millions of NOK in deficits and resulting major staff cuts, on 23 October 2008 the board of ''TV 2'' decided to initiate negotiations with its owners, Egmont and Amedia, to sell the newspaper. Gunnar Stavrum
Gunnar Stavrum (born 24 October 1961) is a Norwegian newspaper editor and author. Since 2003 he has been chief editor of the online newspaper ''Nettavisen''. Early years Stavrum was born in Kristiansund, and grew up in Bergen and Kristiansand. Career He began his career as a substitute journalist for ''Fædrelandsvennen'' in 1982, and for NRK Sørlandet in 1983. He was hired as a journalist for ''Bergens Tidende'' in 1985, and became managing editor of '' Kapital'' in 1990, and of ''Dagens Næringsliv'' in 1993. He worked as a reporter for '' TV 2'' from 1996 to 2000, and from 2000 he was manager of TV 2 Interaktiv AS. Since 2003 he has been chief editor of ''Nettavisen'' (named ''TV 2 Nettavisen'' until 2008), and executive director of Mediehuset Nettavisen AS from 2008. Netzeitung
''Netzeitung'' was a German online newspaper produced in Berlin from 2000 to 2009. On 4 January 2010 netzeitung.de had been converted into an automated portal displaying contents from nachrichten.de (an online news portal operated by Tomorrow Focus). Netzeitung had claimed to be the first German newspaper that was completely online, and to have been the most cited news source in Germany in 2005. The paper went online in November 2000 and was started by the same company that publishes the Norwegian online newspaper ''Nettavisen''. In 2006, the paper employed some 60 journalists and reached, according to Michael Maier, then the chief editor, some 1.2 million households per month and was to earn €8 million. Amedia AS is the second largest media company in Norway (the largest is Schibsted and the third largest is Polaris Media). The company is whole or partial owner of 50 local and regional newspaper with online newspapers and printing presses, and its own news agency, Avisenes Nyhetsbyrå. An online newspaper (or electronic news or electronic news publication) is the online version of a newspaper, either as a stand-alone publication or as the online version of a printed periodical. Going online created more opportunities for newspapers, such as competing with broadcast journalism in presenting breaking news in a more timely manner. The credibility and strong brand recognition of well established newspapers, and the close relationships they have with advertisers, are also seen by many in the newspaper industry as strengthening their chances of survival. Press support is a government subsidy available for newspapers in some countries. The support can either be direct, in terms of money to the newspaper, or indirect, such as lowered or eliminated sales tax. The justification for press support is typically to maintain some level of diversity in the media market. Liberal Party (Norway)
The Liberal Party ( no, Venstre, lit=Left, V; se, Gurutbellodat) is a centrist political party in Norway. It was founded in 1884 and it is the oldest political party in Norway. It is positioned in the centre on the political spectrum, and it is a liberal party which has over the time enacted reforms such as parliamentarism, freedom of religion, universal suffrage, and state schooling. For most of the late 19th and early 20th century, it was Norway's largest and dominant political party, but in the postwar era it lost most of its support and became a relatively small party. TV 2 (Norway)
TV 2 (''TV to'') is a Norwegian terrestrial television channel. Its headquarters are located in Bergen. TV 2 began test broadcasting on 13 November 1991, and a year later, it was officially launched on 5 September 1992, becoming Norway's first commercial free-to-air television channel.
