Royal Dutch Swimming Federation
The Royal Dutch Swimming Federation ( nl, Koninklijke Nederlandse Zwem Bond, “KNZB”) is the official governing body for swimming, in the Netherlands. The federation overlooks several other sports including competition swimming, open water swimming, water polo, diving and synchronized swimming. The federation is based in Nieuwegein and affiliated with the national sports body NOC*NSF. The responsibility of the KNZB is to organize and track various events. When a new organization from one of the water sports joins the KNZB they can participate in the competitions governed by the KNZB. They will then be placed on a ranking list. Maarten Brzoskowski (born 19 September 1995) is a Dutch competitive swimmer of Polish origin who specializes in freestyle. He holds the Dutch records in both the long course and short course 400 meter freestyle events. His father's grandfather emigrated during World War I from Poland to the Netherlands. Career Brzoskowski participated in his first international championships at the 2014 European Aquatics Championships in Berlin, swimming the 400, 800, and 1500 meter freestyle events. He qualified for the 800 meter and 1500 meter freestyle at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships in Kazan, Russia, where he finished 16th and 15th in the heats. Esmee Vermeulen (born 21 April 1996) is a Dutch swimmer. Vermeulen made her international senior debut at the 2011 European Short Course Swimming Championships in Szczecin, Poland. At the 2014 short-course world championships in Doha, she won three gold medals for swimming in the heats of all three freestyle relays. Sharon van Rouwendaal (born 9 September 1993) is a Dutch swimmer and the Olympic gold medalist in the 10 km open water marathon at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. She grew up in Soest, and later moved to France with her parents. In 2009, she moved to Eindhoven to train with Jeanet Mulder, after she had qualified for the 2010 European Aquatics Championships she changed coach to Jacco Verhaeren. As of 2014 she is coached by Philippe Lucas in Narbonne and Marcel Wouda in Eindhoven. She is noted for her versatility, and focuses on distance freestyle events.
