The Dutch Olympic Committee*Dutch Sports Federation, ( nl, Nederlands Olympisch Comité*Nederlandse Sport Federatie) generally abbreviated NOC*NSF, is the overall coordinating Dutch sports organization that also functions as the Dutch National Olympic Committee and National Paralympic Committee. Based at the National Sports Centre Papendal in Arnhem, it is a federation of 90 sports organizations, representing about 2700 individual sports clubs. The competition was held on the Squaw Valley Olympic Skating Rink and for the first time at the Olympics on artificially frozen ice. It was held on Thursday, February 25, 1960. Jeen Van Den Berg
Jeen van den Berg (8 January 1928 – 8 October 2014) was a Dutch people, Dutch long track speed skating athlete primarily known as the winner of the Elfstedentocht of 1954. He competed in the race a record seven times, with his first race being in 1947 and his final one in 1997. On 3 February 1954, van den Berg finished the race in a record 7 hours and 35 minutes, a record finally bettered by Evert van Benthem 31 years later. Henk Van Der Grift
Hendrik ("Henk") van der Grift (born 25 December 1935) is a retired Dutch speed skater. At the 1960 Winter Olympics van der Grift finished 10th on the 500 m and fell on the 1500 m. Not satisfied with training facilities in the Netherlands, he lived in Norway for a while, working as a car mechanic. The superior training facilities in Norway paid off and van der Grift won silver at the 1961 European Allround Championships behind Olympic Champion Viktor Kosichkin. This was the first Dutch medal in international championships in eight years and it made van der Grift one of the favourites for the World Allround Championships. And van der Grift delivered: in what turned out to be his greatest year, he became the 1961 World Allround Champion in Gothenburg. Willem "Wim" de Graaff (25 August 1931 – 12 January 2021) was a Dutch speed skater who competed in the 1956 Winter Olympics and in the 1960 Winter Olympics. He was born and died in Rotterdam. Joan Haanappel (born 13 November 1940) is a Dutch former figure skater and sports presenter for NOS, AVRO, ZDF and Eurosport. She is a three-time European bronze medalist (1958–1960) and a four-time Dutch national champion. Career Skating career Haanappel began skating in 1949 at Houtrust ice skating club in The Hague. Aged 12 years, she competed at her first major international competition, the European Championships in Dortmund, where she finished 14th. She won the first of her four Dutch national titles in 1955. She finished 13th at the 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy.
