The Dutch Olympic Committee*Dutch Sports Federation, ( nl, Nederlands Olympisch Comité*Nederlandse Sport Federatie) generally abbreviated NOC*NSF, is the overall coordinating Dutch sports organization that also functions as the Dutch National Olympic Committee and National Paralympic Committee. At the 1908 Summer Olympics in London, England, an official football tournament between national representative selections was contested for the first time; football had been played between club teams at the Games of 1900 and 1904. Eight entries were accepted, and were included in the tournament draw, including two from France: the main team and a B team. Both Hungary and Bohemia both withdrew after the draw and before the start of play, leaving six teams to contest the tournament. Johannes Jacobus "Jan" van den Berg (22 August 1879 in Haarlem – 21 December 1951 in Zandvoort) was a Dutch footballer who spent his entire career at HFC Haarlem. He was one of Haarlem's greatest club icons, being the big name at the club in the first 50 years, Haarlem's first (unofficial) international and (honorary) chairman of the club. He was also a member of the Dutch football squad that competed in the 1908 Summer Olympics, but he did not play in any matches. Johannes "Jan" Thomée (4 December 1886 – 1 April 1954) was a Dutch footballer. He was born and died in Delft. He was included in the Netherlands national team for the 1908 Summer Olympics that won the bronze medal. Thomée became the all-time top scorer for the Netherlands on 16 October 1910. His goal against Germany was his eleventh goal for the Netherlands, breaking the record that Edu Snethlage had held since 21 March 1909.
