Netherlands Music Prize
The Nederlandse Muziekprijs (Dutch Music Award) is the highest honor bestowed by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science to a musician working in classical music. The prize is awarded on the recommendation of the Advisory Committee for the Dutch Music Prize. The prize was initially given by the Fund for Amateur Art and Performing Arts (Fonds Amateurkunst en Podiumkunsten, FAPK), after 2007 by the Dutch Fund for Performing Arts+ (Nederlands Fonds voor Podiumkunsten+), and since the beginning of 2010 by the Performing Arts Fund (Fonds Podiumkunsten). This committee follows the candidate intensively for a period of two years, during which the candidate undertakes a study program agreed by the committee. At the end of the study process, the committee decides after a concert or exam whether to award the prize. Janine Jansen
Janine Jansen (born 7 January 1978) is a Dutch violinist and violist. Early life and education Jansen was born in Soest in the Netherlands and came from a musical family. Her father plays organ, harpsichord and piano; from 1987 to mid-2011 he was the organist of St. Martin's Cathedral, Utrecht, and was invested as a Knight of the Order of Orange-Nassau. Her mother was a classical singer; her brother David ( nl) is a harpsichordist and organist; her brother Maarten is a cellist; and her uncle is the bass singer Peter Kooy. She began to study the violin at age 6, and has studied with Coosje Wijzenbeek, Philippe Hirschhorn, and Boris Belkin. Izhar Elias
Izhar Elias (born in Amsterdam, 1977) was the first guitarist to win the Dutch Music Prize. He is specialised in new music for guitar, early and chamber music. By using historical methods and original instruments, Elias has been able to recreate a musical language of the Baroque, Classic and Romantic periods. The Prince Bernard Cultural Foundation made it possible for Izhar to own a 1812 unique Guadagnini guitar. His collaboration with composers, choreographers and film makers has led to over 30 premieres and different multimedia projects. In 2014 Izhar was the feature of a documentary, where he played a classical piece written by death metal guitarist Florian Magnus Maier. Erik Bosgraaf
Erik Bosgraaf (born 9 May 1980) is a Dutch recorder player and musicologist. Early life Bosgraaf was born in Drachten, Netherlands. He received his Master of Arts in musicology from Utrecht University in 2006. In 2007 Bosgraaf, under the supervision of musicologist Thiemo Wind, released a 3-CD-box with compositions of the Dutch composer Jacob van Eyck (1589–1657), a collection which attained unexpected commercial success and sold more than 25,000 copies. Bram van Sambeek (born 1980) is a Dutch bassoon soloist and teacher. He was principal bassoonist in the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra (2002–2011) and played as a regular guest principal in the London Symphony Orchestra and Mahler Chamber Orchestra.
