Nes, Ameland
Nes is the second largest village on the island of Ameland, one of the West Frisian Islands in the northern Netherlands. It constitutes as the main village of the eastern, Roman Catholic part of Ameland and had, as of January 2017, a population of 1,155. In the past, the Catholic Amelanders were involved in many conflicts with the western, Protestant Amelanders living in Hollum and Ballum Ballum is a village on the western half of the island of Ameland and the smallest of the total of four villages on the island, one of the West Frisian Islands and part of the Netherlands. Friesland (, ; official fry, Fryslân ), historically and traditionally known as Frisia, is a province of the Netherlands located in the country's northern part. It is situated west of Groningen, northwest of Drenthe and Overijssel, north of Flevoland, northeast of North Holland, and south of the Wadden Sea.
