Nelson Chittum
Nelson Boyd Chittum (born March 25, 1933 in Harrisonburg, Virginia) is an American former Major League Baseball pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals and Boston Red Sox. A right-hander, he stood tall and weighed . Career Chittum attended Elizabethtown College, signed as an amateur free agent with the Cardinals in 1956, and won 23 games in his maiden season in professional baseball in the Class C California League. He made his major league debut with the team on August 1, 1958, versus the Los Angeles Dodgers, pitching three innings and surrendering eight hits. Traded to the Red Sox the following season, he posted an 11–5 won-lost record in the Triple-A American Association before his recall to Boston. In 21 games played as a relief pitcher, he won all three of his decisions and posted a sparkling 1.19 earned run average in innings pitched. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. Games played (GP) is a statistic used in team sports to indicate the total number of games in which a player has participated (in any capacity); the statistic is generally applied irrespective of whatever portion of the game is contested. Minneapolis Millers (baseball) Players
The Minneapolis Millers were an American professional minor league baseball team that played in Minneapolis, Minnesota, through 1960. In the 19th century a different Minneapolis Millers were part of the Western League. The team played first in Athletic Park and later Nicollet Park. Eldon John "Rip" Repulski (October 4, 1928 – February 10, 1993) was an American professional baseball player, an outfielder in Major League Baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals (1953–56), Philadelphia Phillies (1957–58), Los Angeles Dodgers (1959–60) and Boston Red Sox (1960–61).
