William Neil Carmichael (born 15 April 1961 in Hexham) is an English politician, and former Conservative Party Member of Parliament (MP) for Stroud from 2010 until 2017. In April 2019, Carmichael announced he had left the Conservatives. He subsequently joined Change UK and was an unsuccessful candidate for the party in the East of England constituency at the 2019 European Parliament election. In September 2019, he joined the Liberal Democrats. Earlier activities in politics Carmichael began his political career after being elected to Northumberland County Council in 1989, on which he served for four years. In the 1992 general election, he was the unsuccessful Conservative Party candidate for the parliamentary seat of Leeds East. Neil Abercrombie
Neil Abercrombie (born June 26, 1938) is an American politician who served as the seventh governor of Hawaii from 2010 to 2014. He is a member of the Democratic Party. Born in Buffalo, New York, Abercrombie is a graduate of Union College and the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa. He began his political career in 1975, winning a seat in the Hawaii House of Representatives. He served in the Hawaii House until 1979, when he was elected to the Hawaii State Senate. Neil George Carmichael, Baron Carmichael of Kelvingrove (10 October 1921 – 19 July 2001) was a Scottish politician. He was a Labour Member of Parliament (MP) in Glasgow from 1962 to 1983. Early life Carmichael was the son of James Carmichael MP and the grandson of George Carmichael, a founder member of the Independent Labour Party (ILP).
