The City and County of Denver, capital of the U.S. state of Colorado, has 78 official neighborhoods as of January 2013. In addition to the official administrative neighborhoods, many residents have names for local neighborhoods that may not conform to the boundaries of official neighborhoods. Denver does not have any official larger area designations, unlike the City of Chicago for example, which has larger areas that house the neighborhoods (IE: Northwest Side). Denver residents use the terms "north" "south" "east" and "west" loosely, and the neighborhoods as categorized below reflect this. North Capitol Hill, Denver
North Capitol Hill, often referred to as Uptown, is a center city neighborhood near the Colorado State Capitol. The neighborhood has a diverse population, and is similar to surrounding neighborhoods of Five Points, Denver, Colorado, Five Points and Capitol Hill, Denver, Capitol Hill, in that it cannot be defined by a single demographic. Currently, downtown is undergoing significant redevelopment and gentrification, with many young residents and transplants populating the apartments and homes that frequent the area. North Capitol Hill had a violent crime rate of 13.74 incidents per 1,000 residents in 2014, one of the ten highest rates among Denver neighborhoods. The poverty rate is also much higher than city and national averages, with 34.74% of the population living in poverty. Park Hill is a neighborhood in Denver, Colorado, U.S. Located in the northeastern quadrant of the city, it is bordered by Colorado Boulevard on the west, East Colfax Avenue on the south, Quebec Street on the east, and East 52nd Avenue on the north. Montclair is a neighborhood in the City and County of Denver, Colorado, United States. The Denver U.S. Post Office ( ZIP Code 80220) serves Montclair postal addresses. Neighborhood history Montclair was originally developed as a small suburban community east of Denver. The land was purchased and developed by the Montclair Town and Improvement Company in 1885. One of its founders, Matthias P. Cochrane, originally came from Montclair, New Jersey and named the new community in its honor.
