Needin' U
"Needin' U" is a house record written and produced by David Morales, under the pseudonym David Morales Presents The Face. The track's retail release was on Manifesto Records in the summer of 1998, but it had been available to DJs several months prior on various house record labels. The song quickly became a big hit in the club scene and would go on to become its artist's biggest hit and a house music anthem. Background Morales originally created "Needin' U" as a demo, resulting from his experimenting with various samples over a three-hour period, which he never intended to release to the public. However, following positive reactions from fans and other DJs after Morales started including the track in DJ sets, he decided to release it commercially. David Morales (; born August 21, 1962) is an American disc jockey (DJ) and record producer. In addition to his production and DJ work, Morales is also a remixer. David Morales has remixed and produced over 500 releases for artists including Mariah Carey, Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Spice Girls, Eric Clapton, Seal, Pet Shop Boys, U2, Donna Summer, Whitney Houston, Selena, and Jamiroquai. Morales was nominated for his first Grammy Award in 1996 as a Producer on Mariah Carey's album “Daydream” for the song “Fantasy”. He was nominated again the next year and won the 1998 Grammy Award for “Remixer of the Year”. Morales is considered to be one of the first so-called superstar DJs. Juliet Roberts (born 6 May 1962) is a British jazz, Rock music, rock, Soul music, soul and house music singer of Grenada, Grenadian descent. Career Roberts was born in London, England. She originally recorded as Julie Roberts in 1982, and performed on the 1983 top 10 hit single "It's Over" by Funk Masters. In July 1983, she released the single "Fool for You" backed with "It's Been a Long, Long Time" on the Bluebird Records label, catalogue reference BRT3. The single peaked at No. 77 on the Gallup chart, week ending 20 August 1983. In 1984, Roberts began a four-year stint as vocalist for the jazz group Working Week (band), Working Week. Spearmint are a London-based indie pop band, founded in 1995 by Shirley Lee. The group has received coverage in the ''NME'', ''Time Out'', ''Melody Maker'' and ''Uncut'' magazines. The original lineup included founder Shirley Lee (guitar and lead vocals), Simon Calnan (keyboard and backing vocals), Ronan Larvor (drums), and Martin Talbot (bass guitar). A DJ mix or DJ mixset is a sequence of musical tracks typically mixed together to appear as one continuous track. DJ mixes are usually performed using a DJ mixer and multiple sounds sources, such as turntables, CD players, digital audio players or computer sound cards, sometimes with the addition of samplers and effects units, although it is possible to create one using sound editing software.
