Nederlandse Vereniging Voor Veganisme
The Nederlandse Vereniging voor Veganisme or NVV (English: ''Dutch Society for Veganism'') is a Dutch association which strives to promote the vegan lifestyle, and to end animal exploitation. The association was founded on 8 September 1978 in Arnhem as the ("Vegan Circle"), the first organisation in the Netherlands of its kind. Shortly thereafter, its name was changed to ("Association Vegans Organisation"), finally adopting its present name in 1987. The NVV's stated purpose is promoting a way of living, which is completely free from exploitation of animals, and advocating a healthy, wholly vegetable diet, to the benefit of human beings, animals, plant life and the environment. In the period 2012–2015, the association's membership tripled from almost 650 to 1891. At the start of the year 2017, the NVV had 2100 members. Cruelty to animals, also called animal abuse, animal neglect or animal cruelty, is the infliction by omission (neglect) or by commission by humans of suffering or harm upon non-human animals. The Vegan Society
The Vegan Society is a registered charity and the oldest vegan organization in the world, founded in the United Kingdom in 1944 by Donald Watson, Elsie Shrigley, George Henderson and his wife Fay Henderson among others. The Jaarbeurs (; Dutch for 'Yearly Fair') is an exhibition and convention centre in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Noted events include the former Space '86, the Hobby Computer Club Days (''HCC Dagen''), and the Mega Record & CD Fair. The venue is also a regular base for music festivals like ASOT festival and Thunderdome. The Jaarbeurs extends to an area of 100.000 m² next to Utrecht Centraal railway station.
