Ned Long is a professional Australian Rules Football player who plays for as a midfielder or forward in thAFL He has also played for Box Hill Hawks in the Victorian Football League. Early life Long represented Victoria in the Under 15 School Sport competition along side future teammate Josh Ward. Long had impressive early in 2021 until injury saw him drop down the ratings in the eyes of recruiters. Overlooked in the main draft Hawthorn selected him with their first pick of the rookie draft. Northern Knights (NAB League)
The Northern Knights is an Australian rules football club playing in the NAB League, the top statewide under-18 competition in Victoria, Australia. They are based in Preston, representing the northern suburban area of Melbourne. The Knights are one of the six original clubs set up as part of a plan by the Victorian State Football League to replace the traditional club zones with independent junior clubs. This was to help aid in player development and the process of the AFL draft, which allows U18 players the opportunity to be selected by AFL clubs. Northern Knights have had many of their players drafted into the AFL, including the first two selections in the 2007 AFL Draft, Matthew Kreuzer and Trent Cotchin, and the fifth selection in the 2008 AFL Draft, Michael Hurley. The Yarra Junior Football League is the largest junior Australian rules football league in Australia. The league has a total of 32 clubs, who are based around northern, eastern and north-eastern Melbourne, Victoria, Melbourne. There is a total of 66 divisions throughout the league. History The Yarra Junior Football League was first formed through the merging of the old Doncaster & Districts and the Hawthorn Districts Junior Football Leagues in 1997. Josh Ward
Josh Ward (born 15 August 2003) is an Australian rules footballer who plays for in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was recruited by Hawthorn with the 7th draft pick in the 2021 AFL draft. Early life Ward began his Australian rules football career at the Fitzroy Junior Football Club in the Yarra Junior Football League, back in 2012. Ward then was selected to play for the Northern Knights in the 2021 NAB League Boys season. Ward played well during his time with the Knights, averaging 30.2 disposals and being named the captain in the NAB League Boys Team of the Year.
