Ned Buggy
Ned Buggy (born 1948) is an Irish retired hurling selector and former player who enjoyed a successful career as a midfielder with the Wexford senior team. Born Wexford, Buggy was introduced to hurling in his youth. He had some championship successes at underage levels with the Faythe Harriers club before later claiming a championship medal at senior level. Buggy made his debut on the inter-county scene at the age of sixteen when he first linked up with the Wexford minor team. An All-Ireland medal winner in this grade he later was an All-Ireland runner-up with the under-21 team. Buggy made his senior debut during the 1966-67 league. He went on to play a key role for Wexford at midfield during a successful era and won one All-Ireland medal as a non-playing substitute, four Leinster medals and one National Hurling League medal. Faythe Harriers
Faythe Harriers is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Wexford town, Ireland. History The history of the Faythe Harriers stretches back to the early 1940s, although the hurling club wasn't formed until 1949. In the late 1930s, the Mulgannon Harriers were the G.A.A. standard-bearers in the south end of Wexford town before they disbanded. In 1941, when a football street league was started in Wexford, John Murphy, Kevin Nolan, Jimmy Williams and a few others got together and decided to enter a team. They had no jerseys, so they approached the members of the Mulgannon Harriers committee for a loan of theirs. They said that they could on condition that they use another name. Leinster Minor Hurling Championship
The Leinster GAA Hurling Minor Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Electric Ireland Leinster GAA Hurling Minor Championship, is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Leinster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county hurling competition for male players under the age of 17 in the province of Leinster, and has been contested every year – except for a three-year absence during the Emergency – since the 1928 championship. Christy Keogh
Christy Keogh (29 June 1943 – 19 July 2002) was an Irish hurler who played as a left corner-forward at senior level for the Wexford county team. Born in Enniscorthy, County Wexford, Keogh arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of twenty-eight when he first linked up with the Wexford senior team. He made his debut in the 1971 championship. Keogh went on to play a key part for the rest of the decade, and won two Leinster medals and one National Hurling League medal. Martin Coleman
Martin Coleman (born 1 August 1950) was an Irish hurler and selector. His career included All-Ireland Championship victories as goalkeeper with Cork's three-in-a-row team of the 1970s and later as a selector with various Cork teams. After beginning his career at club level with Ballinhassig, Coleman joined the Cork minor team as a 16-year-old in 1967 and won an All-Ireland Minor Championship in his debut year. After winning back-to-back All-Ireland Under-21 Championships, he was promoted to the Cork senior team in 1970. Coleman eventually succeeded Paddy Barry as Cork's first-choice goalkeeper and made a total of 19 championship appearances in a career that ended with his last appearance in 1980. Seánie O'Leary
Seán O'Leary (25 February 1952 – 1 December 2021) was an Irish hurler who played as a left corner-forward at senior level for the Cork county team. Career Born in Youghal, County Cork, Munster, O'Leary first played competitive hurling whilst at school at St. Colman's College. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the Cork minor team, before later joining the under-21 side. Ray Cummins
Maurice Raymond "Ray" Cummins (born 9 November 1948) is an Irish former hurler and Gaelic footballer whose dual league and championship career with the Cork senior teams spanned fifteen years from 1967 to 1982. Pat Moylan (Cork Hurler)
Pat Moylan is an Irish former hurler who played as a midfielder at senior level for the Cork county team. Moylan joined the team during the 1970 championship and was a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement after the 1981 championship. During that time he won three All-Ireland medals, three Munster medals, two National League medals and one All-Star award. At club level Moylan was a three-time All-Ireland medalist with Blackrock. James Barry-Murphy (born 22 August 1954) is an Irish hurling manager and former hurler, Gaelic footballer and association football player. He was the manager of the senior Cork county hurling team from 2011 to 2015, returning a decade after his first tenure as manager. The Leinster GAA Hurling All-Ireland Under-20 Championship known simply as the Leinster Under-20 Championship, is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Leinster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county hurling competition for male players between the ages of 17 and 20 in the province of Leinster.
