Necdet Calp
Necdet Calp (September 7, 1922 – September 13, 1998) was a Turkish civil servant and politician. Early life He was born in Karamürsel ilçe of Kocaeli Province, Turkey on 7 September 1922. He graduated from the Faculty of Political Science, Ankara University, Faculty of Political Science of Ankara University in 1944. He also studied at the London School of Economics. He served as district governor, inspector in the Ministry of Interior (Turkey), Ministry of Interior as well as province governor of Siirt Province, Siirt and İzmir Province, İzmir. He also served as executive assistant to İsmet İnönü, then prime minister of Turkey. During the military rule between 1980 and 1983, he was the undersecretary of the prime minister Bülent Ulusu. Aydın Güven Gürkan
Aydın Güven Gürkan (May 10, 1941 Elazığ-January 22, 2006 Istanbul) was a Turkish academic and politician. Early life He was born in Elazığ on 10 May 1941. In 1963, he graduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences in Ankara University. In 1970, he completed his doctorate studies in the University of Cologne, Germany with highest honors summa cum laude. Returned to Turkey, in addition to teaching, he served as the dean of Faculty of Journalism in Gazi University. In 1981, he resigned from his post protesting the Council of Higher Education. Political career All Turkish parties were closed in 1981 by the military rule so called by the National Security Council (MGK). 1987 Turkish General Election
General elections were held in Turkey on 29 November 1987. Prior to the elections, the military junta's restrictions on former politicians were lifted, allowing them to re-enter politics. Despite a reduction in its share of the vote, the Motherland Party retained its majority in parliament, gaining 81 seats. Voter turnout was 93.3%. The elections saw the return of the religious oriented base of Necmettin Erbakan and the symbol names of the politics in the 1970s, Bülent Ecevit and Süleyman Demirel. Bülent Ecevit led the Democratic Left Party as the Republican People's Party was closed down after the coup of 1980. Süleyman Demirel founded the True Path Party to challenge the power of Turgut Özal on conservative liberal votes.
