Neath (1922) F.C.
Neath Football Club were a Welsh football team based in village of Llandarcy near Neath. Neath Port Talbot, in Wales. The team played in the Welsh Football League. In 2005 the team merged with Skewen Athletic to form Neath Athletic. History The club was founded in 1922 as ''National Oil Refineries F.C.'' as a works team for the local new oil refinery. The team played in the Gwalia League before becoming a founder member of the Neath League in 1931. They also appeared in the first two West Wales Amateur Cup finals losing on both occasions. They did however triumph in 1951 by beating Plasmarl and again won the trophy four years later. By the late 1940s, NOR were also playing in Welsh League Division 2 (West). In 1954, National Oil Refineries changed their name to ''BP Llandarcy F.C.'' following the British Petroleum Company's acquisition of Llandarcy Oil Refinery. Welsh Football League Division Two
The Welsh Football League Division Two, (last known as the ''Nathanielcars.co.uk Welsh League Division Two'', for sponsorship reasons) was a football league and forms the fourth level of the Welsh football league system in South Wales. If the team which finishes top of the division has good enough ground facilities, traditionally it was promoted to the Welsh Football League Division One and is replaced by the team finishing bottom of Division One. The team finishing in bottom position is relegated to the Welsh Football League Division Three. For the 2019–20 season promotion was to the newly formed Ardal Leagues at Tier 3 and relegation was to one of the regional leagues. WWFA Intermediate Cup
The West Wales Intermediate Challenge Cup is the regional knock-out competition for clubs beneath the umbrella of the West Wales Football Association, at the level of Tier 4 and below of the Welsh Football Pyramid in South West Wales. The tournament invites clubs typically from the top divisions of the Carmarthenshire League, Neath & District League, Pembrokeshire League and Swansea Senior League. Since winning in 2015 and 2017 Team Swansea have been promoted to Tier 2 of the Welsh Football Pyramid, now playing in the Cymru South as Swansea University. The Llandarcy Oil Refinery, also known as the National Oil Refinery, BP Llandarcy and Skewen refinery, was the United Kingdom's first oil refinery, initially opened by the Anglo-Persian Oil Company (renamed the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company from 1935 and the British Petroleum Company from 1954) on 29 June 1922, although operations had begun on 1 July 1921.''BP Oil'', British Petrolum Co Ltd, c. 1976 Before this, the only oil refined in the UK came from Scottish shale.
