Near Dublin
''Near Dublin'' is a 1924 American silent comedy film directed by Ralph Ceder and starring Stan Laurel. Plot As described in a film magazine review, Stan is a postman in the Irish village and is in love with the belle of the town. His rival is a brick manufacturer who makes bricks for both building and social purposes such as being used by all the Irish men, women, and children in fighting. Stan is thrown into jail on a trumped up charge but escapes and, in a battle with his rival, he is knocked out by a rap on the head. The villain is jailed and Stan wins the affections of the lady. Ralph Carl Ceder (February 2, 1897 – November 29, 1951)"California, Death Index, 1940-1997," index, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/VPZK-W5H : accessed 24 Nov 2014), Ralph Carl Ceder, 29 Nov 1951; Department of Public Health Services, Sacramento. was an American film director and writer. He directed 88 films in the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s. Life Ceder was born on February 2, 1897 in Marinette, Wisconsin to Eugene Martin Ceder (1865–1924) and Petrea Christina (Jensen) Ceder (1869–1946), immigrants from Sweden and Denmark. He married several times: to Molly Moore or Horowitz in 1918, to Elizabeth Mceacharn in 1926, and to Jacquetta Calvin in 1931. He died on November 29, 1951 at Rose Hospital in Los Angeles, California. Ceder started making films in 1917, and he worked with Universal Studios and Paramount Pictures. Glenn Tryon (born Glenn Monroe Kunkel; August 2, 1898 – April 18, 1970) was an American film actor, screenwriter, director and producer. He appeared in more than 60 films between 1923 and 1951. Biography He was born as Glenn Monroe Kunkel on August 2, 1898, in Juliaetta, Idaho. Tryon was married to actress Jane Frazee from 1942 to 1947 and they had one son, Timothy Tryon. Glenn was also married to actress Lillian Hall (1896–1959). Tryon died on April 18, 1970, in Orlando, Florida at the age of 71.
