Gasabo District
Gasabo is a district, (''akarere'') in Kigali city, the capital of Rwanda. The headquarter of Gasabo is located in Remera Sector. The district also includes large areas of the city itself, including Kacyiru, Kimironko, Remera, Nyarutarama and Kimihurura. The district is the location of the Gisozi Genocide Memorial Site, the burial place of approximately 300,000 victims of the 1994 Genocide against Tutsis . Caraes Ndera Hospital
Ndera Neuropsychiatric Teaching Hospital, Known as Caraes Ndera Hospital, is a teaching hospital in Rwanda that provides specialized healthcare in psychiatry and neurology. Founded in 1968, the hospital is located in Ndera Sector, Gasabo District in City of Kigali. The hospital is owned by the Congregation of the Brothers of Charity in partnership with the Government Rwanda, with the Government supporting the hospital in human resource and administrative matters, and the congregation assuring the daily management of the hospital. Following its inauguration, Ndera Neuropsychiatric Teaching Hospital established two branches; CARAES Butare in Huye District, Southern Province in 1976 and Icyizere Psychotherapeutic Centre, in Kicukiro District, City of Kigali in 2003. Rwandan Genocide
The Rwandan genocide occurred between 7 April and 15 July 1994 during the Rwandan Civil War. During this period of around 100 days, members of the Tutsi minority ethnic group, as well as some moderate Hutu and Twa, were killed by armed Hutu militias. The most widely accepted scholarly estimates are around 500,000 to 662,000 Tutsi deaths. In 1990, the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF), a rebel group composed mostly of Tutsi refugees, invaded northern Rwanda from their base in Uganda, initiating the Rwandan Civil War. Over the course of the next three years, neither side was able to gain a decisive advantage. In an effort to bring the war to a peaceful end, the Rwandan government led by Hutu president, Juvénal Habyarimana signed the Arusha Accords (Rwanda), Arusha Accords with the RPF on 4 August 1993.
