Nayak Caste
The Nayak are a Hindu caste; also some Nayak are Punjabi found in India and Pakistan. Mainly Nayak follows Hindu. According to Vinay Krishin Gidwani, the Nayaks claim that they were, historically, Brahmins. Demographics and occupation The Nayaks reside in Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and West Bengal. They also live in Khammam district and West Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh and in a number of villages near Ahmedabad in Gujarat. According to Kathryn Hansen, the main occupation of Gujarati Nayaks had been "singing, dancing and acting in plays". Viswanatha Nayak
Viswanatha Nayak was the Vijayanagara viceroy to Madurai in south India during the 16th century. He later became the ruler of Madurai after the fall of the Vijayanagara empire. Naik (Nk; sometimes historically spelled ''nayak'') is an Indian Army, Pakistan Army and Bangladesh Police rank equivalent to corporal. In Tamil, the word naik was used to indicate a lord or governor prior to its use as an equivalent to corporal in British India. The rank was previously used in the British Indian Army and the Camel Corps, ranking between lance naik and havildar. In cavalry units, the equivalent is lance daffadar. ''Naayak'' () is a 2013 Indian Telugu-language action comedy film directed by V. V. Vinayak who co-wrote the film with Akula Siva. The film was produced by DVV Danayya and presented by S. Radha Krishna under the banner Universal Media. The film stars Ram Charan, Kajal Aggarwal, and Amala Paul, with Brahmanandam, Pradeep Rawat, and Ashish Vidyarthi in supporting roles. S. Khem Nayak
Varunakulattan (also identified as Khem Nayak or Chem Nayak) was a 17th-century feudal lord and military commander from the Jaffna Kingdom. He led a rebellion as the military commander of Thanjavur Nayak against the Portuguese in their conquest of the Jaffna kingdom in 1619. Although the nominal king was Cankili II, Varunakulattan was described as the king of Karaiyars, and wield the real power in the Jaffna Peninsula. Charodi (community)
Charodi, also referred to as Mestha(Mesta), Achari, Konkani Achari, Khandekar, or ''Nayak'', is a community from Karnataka state in India. There is no caste called as Charodi in Hindu religion. They are believed to have migrated from Goa in four boats ('char' means four and 'hodi' means boat) which landed in four different places of Karnataka. Charodis were initially known as "Mestha" and after migration, they changed their names based on the location they landed. They are usually called ''Achari'' or ''Charodi'' in North Karnataka and ''Nayak'' or ''Mestha'' in South Karnataka. Thirumalai Nayak
Tirumala Nayaka ( Tamil: ''"Thirumalai Nayakar"''; 1623–1659) was the ruler of Madurai Nayak Dynasty in the 17th century. He ruled Madurai between A.D 1623 and 1659. His contributions are found in the many splendid buildings and temples of Madurai. His kingdom was under constant threat from the armies of Bijapur Sultanate and the other neighbouring Muslim kingdoms, which he managed to repulse successfully.
