Nawaf Al-Fares
Nawaf al-Fares ( ar, نواف فارس الصياح ) is the former Syrian ambassador to Iraq who defected from the ruling government led by Bashar al-Assad on 11 July 2012 during the Syrian uprising. Career Fares was a veteran of Assad's rule and held senior positions as a leading member of Syria's diplomatic corps under the late president Hafez Assad. He served as high-ranking official of the Syrian Regional Branch of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party in Deir al Zour province. Additionally, Fares held senior security posts in Syria. He is also a former provincial governor. He served as the governor of three significant governorates, Latakia Governorate (until 2000), Idlib Governorate (appointed in 2000) and Quneitra Governorate. Nawwaf Moussawi ( ar, نواف الموسوي; born 3 April 1965) is a Shia Lebanese member of parliament representing the Sour district. He is part of Hezbollah's bloc. Controversies In February 2019, Moussawi was suspended from the political activities within his party, due to his violation of a Hezbollah policy of avoiding arguments with rival politicians. The one-year suspension came after his spat with Samy Gemayel and Nadim Gemayel regarding the legitimacy of President Michel Aoun who managed, according to Moussawi, to reach his position under "the rifle of the resistance" but "not on an Israeli tank"; in reference to President Bachir Gemayel. Nawwaf bin Talal Al Rashid (born 8 October 1989) is a dual Saudi-Qatari national, poet and a member of the Al Rashid family. He was arrested in Kuwait on 12 May 2018 and deported to Saudi Arabia. He was detained there until 1 April 2019 when he was released. Biography His father is Talal bin Abdulaziz who was a poet and son of Abdulaziz bin Mutaib, ruler of Ha'il at the beginning of the 1900s. Talal bin Abdulaziz died in Algeria in 2003 when he was on a camping trip. During the incident Nawwaf was with his father.
